Help John Chavula and his family!

John suffered a sudden stroke last Friday. He is in critical condition and urgently needs financial support for his medical care.

John, or John John as we fondly call him, has been part of our lives and team since 2019, when he worked with James at Unfiltered on Kloof Street. In 2023, he became the very first employee at Aperitif, helping to paint the walls, sand the floors, and help make Aperitif what it is today.

John is one of a kind, a self-taught and talented chef, in-house gardener, the rock of our kitchen team, and an all round extraordinary human being. He has given so much of himself to the people and places around him.

This weekend, Emma Jane, James and Alex will be running the Mandela Marathon in support of John and his family. We are raising funds to help with the cost of his medical care and to support the family through this difficult time.

We will match the funds raised, rand for rand, up to R67,000. Every contribution will make a difference. If you’re unable to donate, please share this page and help us reach more people.
