The call to close La Bottega was based on the fact that I couldn’t see any way we would survive not trading over shut down. The decision was the right decision, but the decisions this Government is placing on our people and their jobs is nothing short ridiculous. There is zero thought process behind any decisions that have been made and I feel for everyone that has lost their jobs and the people that created work for the people of this trade. Government needs to be held accountable for their decisions. Stop the looting and start supporting the people of South Africa. This has gone on long enough you bunch of thieving as****es.

PERMANENT CLOSURE:

After a decade of serving the locals in Sir Lowry Road and throwing celebrations for half of Cape Town , the time has finally come for the little shop to put her feet up. An emotional decision to say the least, but she can certainly hold her head high.

I have sat in front of my laptop for some time trying to decide what to write, but I still can't find the words.

I have so many people to thank, but in particular a big shout out to Antonello Scamuzzi for getting the ball rolling in 2009.

My rocks, Jo-ann Carolus and Zanelle Ngwangwa, you have been nothing more than incredible. I will certainly miss speaking to you both every day to discuss everything from how a customer broke the toilet bowl to how much tequila we need. I will miss the food, the late deliveries, the busy moments, the plumbing and so on, but I will miss you the most :-(

My team over the years..I have been blessed to have some incredible staff and I thank you all for the efforts you all put in to making every day a successful one.

To Martin and Louise..All I can really say is THANK YOU!!!! It has been nothing short of amazing sharing this dream with you as our neighbour. This is not goodbye!

The regular events we held, Bacon Fest, Free Beer Friday, Classic Sundays, Vinyl Fridays, Sunday Sessions and so many more..You guys brought people to La Bottega that might never of had the pleasure of enjoying my dream.

My customers, you have been so much fun..You drove me to better myself and at times called me out when I was wrong. I thank you for all your support over the years that allowed me to follow my dream.

And Lastly, my family..I think I might be responsible for a few greys hairs there, but without them I would of been lost. Thank you Dad, Mom, Monkey and Bruce.

Having steered the ship for over a decade has been no easy task with all the issues one has faced over the years and I wish whoever takes the reins the best of luck.

I will slowly be closing down with the final day of trade being the 28th of March 2020.
