The best time or year for me is Christmas. I start to get nostalgic from end of October, when I hear carols adorning the various shops that all of us are exposed to.

Things are tough. For all of us. Yet, for one Sunday I thought, let us just close our eyes and open our credit cards and have a pretend Christmas lunch.

Into the forest we go...

dIE BOOMHUIS is situated in one of the most sought after areas in the Helderberg area, in Somerset West. The property is set on the foot of Golden Hill, and overlooks a forest of blue gum trees, from the kitchen and other entertainment areas.

It is a large, yet intimate and inviting home with the foyer on the top level, the kitchen and open plan lounge dining room one level down, framed by another entertainment area called The Gallery. There are two built-in braai/barbecue areas and a pizza oven. The outside veranda is the perfect spot for alfresco dining next to the fourteen metre long pool, adorned by the most beautiful plum Bougainvillea. Perfect for al fresco dining, as here is another braai/barbeque area and outdoor seating.

The three bedrooms are located below the entertainment areas. A master bedroom with a very large, urban designed, en suite bathroom, has a sizeable balcony overlooking the forest. The bathroom hosts his and hers basins and showers. Then there are two more, lovely in size, bedrooms with fantastic views. The more feminine interior designed room has an on suite bathroom with a balcony overlooking the forest. The guest room, walking out onto the beautiful garden, has a bathroom adjacent to the entrance of the guest bedroom. Note that the house is also our main living house. But for stays longer than two weeks , we move out. The bulk of the chateau is yours, when hosting events.

Any holiday maker’s dream, as you feel so far away from the hustle and bustle, yet, town is a 5 minutes drive away and the beach 15 minutes away. The winelands, one could say, it is a walk away. Ideal for hikes and cycling, as the Helderberg Nature Reserve is located across the road from dIE BOOMHUIS.
