The National Gambling Board just launched a Verified Gambling Operators Portal, and honestly, it's one of the most important things to happen in the local gambling space in a long time.
Here's why I'm talking about it:
"About 62% of online gambling in SA is happening on platforms that are flat-out illegal." - African News Agency. No licence. No accountability. And if you get burned, there's nothing you can do about it.
I've always said: it's not just about picking winners; it's about playing in a safe environment. Now the NGB has given us a tool to do exactly that.
Only operators listed on the portal are legally authorised to offer gambling services in South Africa, and the NGB is sharing that list with banks, SARS, and law enforcement. The walls are closing in on the dodgy operators.
