Meet Domaine Thomas et Fils
Based in Verdigny, one of Sancerre’s most historic villages, Julien Thomas began taking over the family estate from his father, Jean, in 2005, continuing a lineage that dates back to 1670.
Today, the estate encompasses 10.9 hectares of calcareous soils around Verdigny, producing roughly 8,000 cases annually. Organic certified and Demeter biodynamic, with occasional use of amphora, the domaine remains focused on estate-grown, terroir-driven wines where flora and fauna coexist alongside the vineyards.

Few names have shaped modern Burgundy more profoundly than Dominique Lafon. In 2008, he began again by establishing an independent domaine where experimentation, continual learning and the transparent expression of terroir could flourish.

With the 2024 vintage, the Dominique Lafon project becomes Guillaume Lafon, marking a seamless generational transmission. While remaining deeply rooted in his father’s philosophy of purity and precision, Guillaume brings a thoughtful vision for the future— centered on sustainable farming, continual improvement and preparing Burgundy’s vineyards for a changing climate through a careful balance of tradition and innovation. From horse plowing to higher trellising, his philosophy is one of thoughtful evolution.

The vineyards remain, the philosophy endures and a new generation begins with a new look.
