A guest named Anthony left a five-star Google review for Niche that captured something we hear most often about Carlos. He wrote that Carlos even came out of the kitchen to personally greet them and make sure all was to their satisfaction. He called it a class act.

Two notes on this. First, the chef-greeting-the-table thing is not a special-occasion gesture at Niche. It is just how Carlos runs the room. Second, we get a version of this review at least once a month.

Niche serves Wednesday through Sunday from inside Acacia Boutique Hotel. The dining room seats fewer than fifty.

A question we field at least once a week: is it really the largest hot tub in Puerto Rico? Yes. The courtyard tub at Acacia is built closer to the scale of a small swimming pool than a residential spa, with seating around the rim and the warmth of the Caribbean evening above it.

What makes the experience different from a typical hotel hot tub is what is around it, the courtyard of a Spanish villa, the kind of quiet you only get in a twenty-one-room property after dinner. Guests use it before dinner to unwind after a beach day, and again at night under a low-lit sky.

It is included with every reservation. Open every day of the year.

The most common feedback we get from first-time guests is some version of the same line: it is closer to the beach than the photos make it look. Half a block from Acacia's front door, you turn one corner, walk one short street, and you are on the sand at Ocean Park Beach.

Ocean Park is the residential mile of beach east of Condado. Calmer water than the strip, a younger local-leaning crowd of paddleboarders and beach volleyball players, and small vendors instead of resort lounge chairs. For travelers who want a real San Juan beach week without the high-rise hotel feel, Ocean Park is the one.

The official Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1, but in San Juan that headline misses the better story. Peak rainfall historically arrives later in the season. June is one of the strongest weather windows on the island for ocean swimming, walking the beach, and cultural events.

Acacia Boutique Hotel sits half a block from Ocean Park Beach in a 21-room Spanish villa on the Condado-Ocean Park border. June rates are some of the friendliest of the year, the beach is less crowded than winter, and the courtyard hot tub stays warm regardless of the weather.

Booking summer in San Juan? ☀️🌴

May is when families lock it in — and the family-friendly boutique inventory in Condado/Ocean Park is short, because every other small hotel here is adults-only.

Acacia’s Double King and Double Double rooms are built for the trip; Ocean Park Beach is half a block from the door. 🏖️

What’s actually worth doing near Condado and Ocean Park? 🌴🌊

Old San Juan’s cobblestones (20 minutes by car), Ocean Park Beach (half a block), the Bacardí distillery ferry (across the bay), and a short list of restaurants the front desk really sends people to. ✨

We’ve laid out the basics on our site — simple, local, and worth your time.
