𝐆𝐀𝐉𝐀, “𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐎 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐎”, 𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐇𝐄, 𝐏𝐈𝐄𝐃𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓, 𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐘 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖

🍷 Blending:
Nebbiolo, Merlot and Barbera

🍷 The technical stuff:
Gaja Sito Moresco 2018 is elegant and superbly made. A blend of Nebbiolo, Cabernet and Merlot grapes from the Langhe, Piedmont wine region and produced by Angelo Gaja, one of the rock stars of the wine world and an iconic figure for Italian winemaking. He's credited with making Barbaresco world famous as a robust red wine from northern Italy.

Full-bodied, smooth and juicy with ripe red currant, black currant, fine herb and spicy, smoky flavours harmonious on the palate. Each variety was vinified separately prior to blending and then matured in oak barrels for 1 year. A good cellaring candidate, drink or hold.

🍷 The Why?
Nebbiolo is known as “King” of red wine in Italy. This variety is big, bold, and high in everything (acid, alcohol, and tannin). It is a POWERFUL grape! If you are looking for a slightly younger, and less powerful/slightly more elegant and approachable Nebbiolo, try one from the Langhe. These are known as baby Barolos. Great value and still delicious!

🍷 Food pairing:
Goes well with meaty Italian-style dishes. Seek out hearty foods such as braised meats, ribeye steaks, or bean-based vegetarian.

Garganega is grown, above all, in Italy’s Veneto, where it is the chief grape for making Soave. The grape ripens late and harvested at the end of October.

Basic Soave is smooth, dry, straighforward wine, with an apple and pear aroma, often blended with Verdicchio for a bit of extra bite and depth.

The finest quality Soave wines from lower yield and fine sites, can have considerable breadth, substance, and length. Aromas of white flowers, peach and almond are immediately recognizable with a color is golden, intense straw yellow. The terroir takes care of the rest, enhancing the minerality and thickness of the wine.

The Why: Roussanne is one of the most important white grape varieties in the Rhône Valley. Roussane & Marsanne is a great blending couple to make white wine. The resulting wine is full-bodied, long lived, can develop great complexity and deserved as some of the finest white wines in the world.

The technical stuff: The wines are rich and complex with floral aromas and flavors of peaches, pears, honey, nuts and hay along with mineral notes.
