At The 146, the Missing Man Table is always on display. Not for decoration, not for attention, but for remembrance.
It stands as a silent place at the table for the heroes who never had the chance to come home. A reminder that while many of us gather with family, share meals, laugh, and make memories… there are families across this country carrying the weight of an empty seat that can never truly be filled.
Every piece of the table tells part of that story. The rose for love and sacrifice. The salt for tears shed. The lemon for the bitterness of loss. The inverted glass because they can no longer raise a toast beside us. And the empty chair… perhaps the most powerful reminder of all.
Memorial Day is about more than a holiday weekend. It is about honoring the men and women who gave everything for people they would never meet and freedoms they would never personally enjoy again.
Today, we pause to remember them. And we hope, in some small way, this table helps others do the same.
