Thank you to lohud for this beautiful write-up and for helping spread the news of our closing, especially to those who may not have social media and hadn’t heard yet.

I’d be lying if I said this hasn’t been a tough and emotional week for me. What has made it so special, though, is hearing from so many of our incredible customers. Listening to your stories about birthdays, anniversaries, family dinners, celebrations, and all the memories made at DeCosta’s over the years has truly warmed my heart.

You realize in moments like this that DeCosta’s was so much more than just a restaurant. It became a small part of so many people’s lives, and that means more to me than I could ever put into words.

Thank you for all the love, support, memories, and kind words. ❤️

Anyone who knows me knows that from a young age, I dreamed of owning my own restaurant. After working every position and learning the business from the ground up, that dream became DeCosta’s Restaurant.

After more than two decades, it’s bittersweet to announce that DeCosta’s will be closing its doors on September 20th.

I want to thank my family, especially my wife, for standing by me through the long hours and sacrifices, and my parents for helping make this dream a reality. A huge thank you to all of the employees who have been part of DeCosta’s over the years your hard work, dedication, and loyalty helped make this restaurant what it was.

And of course, thank you to our incredible customers. So many of you became more than customers you became friends and part of the DeCosta’s family.

As many of you know, I’ve been juggling two businesses while pursuing another passion of mine being a fishing guide. Now it’s time to give that dream 110% and begin a new chapter.

Thank you for over 20 years of support, friendships, and unforgettable memories. DeCosta’s will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️

We hope you’ll stop in and see us one last time before September 20th so we can share a meal, a drink, a few laughs, and some final memories together.

Some years ago as I was heading out on a fishing trip with some great friends we would talk about writing a book on our life stories and we would often shoot around names for the titles. The one that I chose for myself "the art of stacking" which was a metaphor for balancing life as the owner of a restaurant as you had so many moving parts. The stacking was a pun reference to plates. After 22 years we have decided to part ways with the restaurant. Our history at that location goes back 3 decades as we worked for the previous 2 owners before taking over in 2005. We got to experience many of your life and monumental events at the restaurant watching many kids grow up and adults mature. Making us sometimes feel like part of the family. After 30 years of spending most holidays at the restaurant we have decided it's time to celebrate them at home. My kids are now older as Tyler is 16 & Siena is 12 and value the time with them as most of the memories with them has been at work with all the long hours. I have often pulled in my lovely wife Karen to help out as we seem to always need another hand. Over the last few years I have managed to handle the stress better as my response to life's challenges would be "we will figure it out". The truth is the place has been up for sale for over a year, coming close a few times as we wanted to keep it's legacy going and the staff employed but that would of been in a perfect world. While this has been a difficult decision we are not sad as it's about moving on. After spending many hours working together with my wife & kids, I also realize that it hasn't been fair as we have many other life experiences we should enjoy together. We now look forward to spending the holidays at home or even better yet on vacation. Owning your own business comes with some perks but many more responsibilities. Maybe now I can get an official lunch hour or eat dinner at home with the family on a consistent basis. We love you all for the support and time spent and would also like to thank Frank Delgaudio our landlord as he has always been fair and responsive to all of our needs. This chapter is closing but the book is far from done as we now own Tyalure Tackle our new family venture, a year round fishing shop in RYE, NY. Thank you again and maybe the next time we meet it will be on boat or local dock over a cocktail. Our last day will be on Sunday September 20th.
