One thing Iāve learned working with Hank over the last few years: he isnāt afraid to change.
As someone who gets to see this business from the outside looking in, Iāve watched Hank try things, change things, invest in new ideas, let go of things that arenāt working, and continually ask how Hankās can be better.
Because when youāre building a family business, itās about more than what works today. Itās about creating something that can continue to grow, support the people who depend on it, and hopefully be around for the next generation.
And if you know Hank, you know family is a big part of the why behind all of it.
That doesnāt mean every idea works. It doesnāt mean every change is easy. But heās never been someone who keeps doing something simply because āthatās how weāve always done it.ā
He listens. He adjusts. He invests. He tries again.
And somewhere in the middle of running a travel plaza, cafĆ©, bar, lodge and everything else that comes with Hankās, youāll usually find family woven into it too.
Some of the changes happening here are obvious. Others happen quietly behind the scenes. But thereās almost always one question driving them:
How do we make this place betterāfor our customers, our employees, our community, and the family that will carry it forward?
Hankās has changed a lot over the years. And itāll keep changing.
Because the goal was never just to own a business.
