WELCOME BACK ALTAMIRA!

Our newest cider release – Altamira – is inspired by Basque Country’s ancient sagardo traditions.

Sagardo means “cider” in Euskara, the Basque language. This cider is our Maine homage to the ciders we love so dearly from Basque Country. The apples for the blend were chosen carefully to aim towards a bright, tart, fruity, and briny profile reminiscent of the ciders we love so much from this region of the world. The blend is fermented spontaneously with native yeast in our giant oak foeder where it also ages for six months. After aging, we transfer the cider to stainless tanks to cold crash and rest for an additional two months before bottling with some light, almost imperceivable, natural bubbles. This unique blend features Ashmead’s Kernel (50%), Golden Russet (20%), Newtown Pippin (10%), Wickson (10%) and McIntosh (10%) apples. This cuvée features notes of tart yellow apples, chamomile, ripe papaya, and finishing with a citrusy twang. Crisp & light—pairing so nicely with a ribeye, wedge of cheese, or a half dozen oysters. Grab a bottle for your next adventure, night by the fire, or to pair with an epic meal. Now available in our tasting room by the glass and in bottles.

Bottles hit distribution and our online shop next week. Stay tuned for more details about where you can find them, and how to order them for shipping outside of Maine. Meet you in the barn soon!

NEW CASK PUB CIDER!

Introducing ANJU, our newest cask cider hand pumped from our English inspired cask system.

It’s a Perry made with exclusively Anjou Pears grown in Maine and Vermont. Fermented with an English cider yeast and finishing with some residual sugar due to the natural occurring sweetness in pears. A truly youthful expression of an unfiltered and fruity off-dry perry. Beautifully bubbly from naturally occurring bubbles during fermentation—similar to a pét-nat. At a low sessionable 5.6%, it’s ideal for cooling down after a day on the lake. Meet you in the barn, come grab a tasty mug!

VOTE FOR US IN DOWNEAST MAGAZINE!

Those who have been following us over the last 4-years know we love making cider, supporting local orchards, and showcasing these heirloom fruits in our tasting room! Cidermaking is our way we engage in the world and showcase all the incredible fruit grown here in Maine. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all our visitors that support this mission and grab our ciders off the shelf.

We are honored to be nominated for Best Hard Cider Maker again by Down East Magazine in their “Best of Maine” September issue. Show your support by giving us a vote and spreading the word. Voting ends tomorrow (June 12th)—every cider we share supports a farmer or a forager.

Introducing: LAST NIGHT
{our foraged cider collaboration with Anoche}

Last Night—is a cider made with apples foraged from abandoned orchards, backroad woodlands, and wild seedling groves throughout Cumberland County, Franklin County, Somerset County, and Oxford County. These apples were foraged with our friends at Anoche.Portland with the goal of creating a cider for late night parties, warm summer days, and remind us of the ciders & wines enjoyed during visits to Spain & Portugal.

With that in mind, we collected over 18x different apple varieties from several locations for added depth and complexity. The blend was fermented in three different stainless steel tanks with native yeasts and aged sur-lie. The final cider is comprised of 60% bittersharp, 20% bittersweet, 10% sharp, and 10% aromatic/sweet apples. The cuvée features notes of lemon pith, green apple, yellow pear, fall flowers, and raw honey. It’s crisp, savory, and finishes with a light mouthfeel.

Erika, operator and owner of Anoche is one of our good friends and it’s an honor to make a cider with her. She’s a Portland bar veteran, the queen of gin & tonics, makes a mean spritz, and loves tequila. She has also supported our cidermaking from the beginning and we are eternally grateful.

Available by the glass and in bottles Anoche in Portland starting this Saturday (6/6) and in our tasting room in Winthrop starting today!

Lastly please visit Anoche for our collaborative event this Saturday (6/6) from 5-8pm. It’s gonna be a blast with an epic cider selection featuring some of our favorite vintages made over this past year.

Anoche brings all the Basque ciderhouse vibes, you should explore their drinks, and maybe order some pintxos. Our crew will meet you there!
