The federal ban on h**p has been extended by one month. This means h**p-based gummies and drinks could go away after mid-December. Call/write your senators and representatives.

Today, (9/1), the U.S. House voted 370 to 48 for the stopgap funding bill that pushes the new federal h**p restrictions from November 12 to December 11. The Senate passed it 90 to 6 in August. The bill now goes to the president and the White House has said it will recommend he sign.

It's a small win.

What the delay covers: the total THC standard and the 0.4mg per container cap on finished h**p products. Those rules still take effect 29 days later than planned.

3 things to keep in mind:

1. Nothing changes until the signature. November 12 is still the date on the books today.

2. Products made with cannabinoids a cannabis plant cannot naturally produce keep the November 12 date. The delay does not reach them.

3. The cap itself did not move. December 11 buys Congress a few more weeks to work on a longer-term fix. Several of those bills are still sitting in committee.

So yes, a small win. If you sell, ship, or hold inventory anywhere in the country, the clock now reads December 11 pending signature. Plan for the same rules on a later date and use the extra 29 days.
