There’s usually three main areas that new parents need support⬇️
1️⃣Physical support〰️help for your post-birth body and your baby’s body.
This might include your care provider, your breastfeeding support, your post-birth rehab team or someone that can help you understand what’s going on & where to find help if you need it.
2️⃣Emotional support〰️help for your post-birth emotions + your adjustment to parenthood.
This support should be a safe space and you should feel comfortable being honest and genuine with them. This team may include your partner, your best friend, your postpartum doula, and your counselor or mental health expert.
3️⃣Logistical support〰️help for your post-birth life.
This support should be fluid and flexible, and able to accommodate whatever your needs are that day. It could be delivering a meal, picking up your older kids from school or holding the baby while you shower!Your logistical support team may include your mom, your best friend or your postpartum doula.
Preparing for postpartum is a critical step in getting ready for baby. Who’s on your support team?🤍
