Job Title: Kitchen Staff
Job Summary: Prepare food for customers in a timely manner.
Kitchen Staff Qualifications:
• Ability to read and communicate in the same language as staff members and customers.
• Kitchen experience
• Knowledge of cooking techniques needed to create menu items
• Ability to follow recipes
• Ability to multitask
Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Possess a “Food Handlers” card.
• Keep the kitchen area clean.
• Prepare food in an orderly and timely manner.
• Prepare garnishes and ensure that we have an adequate stock on hand.
• Follow standardized recipes.
• Communicate with servers regarding customer meals – asking questions when orders aren’t clear and solving problems with items that have been prepared
• Maintain all equipment and tools.
• Retrieve and stock items for use in the kitchen using proper rotation procedures.
• Minimize waste and spillage.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Follow all Kansas Alcohol Beverage Control regulations. (When filling in or assisting servers or bartenders.)
• Check all customer identification to ensure they are of legal drinking age. (When filling in or assisting servers or bartenders.)
• Monitor customers’ alcohol intake, alerting management and slowing or stopping service for customers that are showing the early signs of intoxication. (When filling in or assisting servers or bartenders.)
• Prepare and communicate foods orders assuring that supplies are adequate (without spoilage), but also that freshness is maintained.
• Note any problems or shortages and communicate them to management.
• Continuously improve your job skills and knowledge and help make Mulligan’s Pub the best it can be.
• Look for and communicate ways to improve our menu offerings in terms of flavor, quality, plating appearance and cost.
• Look for and communicate ways to improve our customer service, increase our sales and reduce our costs.
• Follow customer requests in regard to orders.
• Ensure every item that leaves the kitchen meets quality standards.
• Arrange food on plates with an attractive presentation.
• Ensure proper portion control.
• Prepare kitchen for opening and closing.
• Complete and initial the tasks on the opening and closing checklist in an effective, timely and efficient manner.
• Fill in as needed during busy and understaffed times. We are a team!
