The Whiting Park Festival Orchestra is thrilled to be playing the 70th performance of Peter Boyer's Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue with the great Jeffrey Biegel, soloist. Other music on the concert includes Morton Gould's Spirituals, Gershwin by George, a Duke Ellington Medley and more. The concert end with spectacular fireworks over Lake Michigan accompanied by live music as the orchestra plays the 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever. The concert is FREE. Come early and picnic in the park or enjoy food from the concession stand.

The WPFO is delighted to have Romina Ornelas lead the singing of the National Anthem at the orchestra's September 6 concert "America 250: A Red, White, and Blue Celebration." Romina is a 16 year old sophomore at Whiting High School. This is her second year of choir. She won a gold metal at state last year at ISSMA as a first year. Romina has sung the National Anthem at Railcats games.

Join us for the final concert of the WPFO's 27th season. The program includes Peter Boyer's spectacular Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue with the brilliant pianist Jeffrey Biegel. This will be the 70th performance of this virtuoso work for piano and orchestra, composed in 2023 for the centenary of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Program includes Gershwin by George, Morton Gould's Spirituals, a Duke Ellington medley, plus Armed Forces Salute, and the 1812 Overture with Fireworks over Lake Michigan. The concert is FREE!

Guitarist Javier Calderon delivered a poetic performance of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez on August 22 with the Whiting Park Festival Orchestra, Robert Vodnoy conducting. Don't miss the orchestra's final concert of the season on September 6 with pianist Jeffrey Biegel. The program and the season end with spectacular fireworks over Lake Michigan.

Join us for a musical celebration of eight great rivers of the world: The Thames, Danube, Moldau, Nile, Swanee, and Shenandoah rivers, Moon River, and the Mighty Mississippi!
