The brewery was converted into a pawpaw processing plant yesterday. Success!! Pawpaw cider is on the way.

First day of making pulp for the Festival was yesterday. Took a while to work out the system but we are going to be ready with pulp and seeds for the party. They are really starting to ripen in the Weston area.

The corner of Short and Welt has been an interesting spot for beer lovers for almost 185 years. These two draymen would have been the keg drivers of their day with a couple exceptions. The truck was powered by hay instead of diesel fuel and each keg weighed approximately 400lbs full. The original brewhouse is directly behind the wagon and is roughly in the spot The Inn at Weston Landing occupies today. We don’t know the names of these men or horses but will raise a glass in their honor.

This is a colorized drawing of Weston Landing with the Missouri River Packet Alice in port. A “packet” steamboat was the scheduled cargo bus of its day. The Alice burned in a fire in St. Louis just 15 days after this drawing is dated on May 17th, 1849. The famous St. Louis fire destroyed dozens of steamboats.
This boat carried passengers and cargo. Most interesting are all the casks lining the shore. We can only imagine some of our own WBC beer was on board.
