Cover crops in action. Our malting barley is planted in the fall, protecting our fields through winter. Now in spring, it's thriving in mid-growth stage. But it's doing so much more than just growing a crop. While it develops, it prevents erosion, holds topsoil in place, and builds organic matter. It keeps nutrients from leaching away and gives life back to our soil biology. When we harvest, we'll leave the straw in the field as soil armor—it protects and feeds the soil rather than removing critical biomass. That's regenerative agriculture—using every season, every plant to strengthen the land itself. By then, our fields will be healthier and our soil will be richer for it.
