For the first time since I've owned the bar I chose to not get the Sunday Ticket. The cost is based on the occupancy of your bar. I fall into the smallest tier and the cost this year was over $6,000. It just doesn't make any financial sense at that cost. They want to price the little bars out of the market so you have to go to the chain places. Those places sponsor the league and pay them tens of millions of dollars. I do not. I have to do what I feel is best for my business and the sustainability of the business. So basically if a bunch of people wanted me to have the Ticket we would have it. Almost every Sunday it didn't affect our business level one bit if we had or we didn't. So with a bunch of things I'm still trying to pay off, spending 6k on something that we'll lose money on wasn't a smart option. I've done a lot of things that almost none of you will ever know about or see but it all cost money. New equipment in the back. Professional floor cleaning in the kitchen and dining room. We needed more storage so I had to rent more space. A ton of things all broke in May due to a power surge. I haven't gotten one penny from insurance for that. I'm trying to do more things with an outside event during the car show. We're opening earlier on weekends. That cost more money in staffing and marketing and all utilities. Id like to try a lunch buffet and possibly other buffet options. It all cost money and a lot of it. So I'm picking and choosing where I think the money is best spent. It's not going in my pocket I promise you that. It's all going back into the business in some way. So if I change something or try something and it doesn't work just be patient. I'm trying to make things better. Always want to improve. I know some of you will say I'm not but you can ask the employees and people closest to me. This is all I have and all I think about. So I just ask you to give some new things a chance. And trust me it's not lost on me how busy we are. None of this would be possible without all of you! π»
