Don't forget about our wine tasting tonight at Urban Market. Wines of southern France courtesy of acclaimed importer Gerard Bertrand. 5 wines to try - 2 red, a white, rose and sparkling wine. Two wine events this week at Urban Market. Tuesday is white wine class. Some good information and nice wines to sample. Then Thursday we have a wine tasting with the wines of Gerard Bertran. Elise from Southern Glazers will be on hand to pour and discuss the wines from this great French importer.

Don't forget about our tasting tomorrow night at Urban Cellar. We'll be trying some wonderful Oregon wines from Lemelson winery. Doris will be offering some nice bits to go with these wines as well. From 5 til 7, should be a great night. You can have dinner in the restaurant afterwards too!

Join us next Tuesday, June 4th at the Market at Urban Grill for an afterwork tasting of our selection of roses for the summer season. These are great wines any time of year, but especially in the warmer weather because they are more refreshing than red wines but still have the red and dark fruit profiles we like so much. We have a very nice selection of these wines, many not seen anywhere else.

This free tasting will be from 4:30 til 6:30 and we'll have special prices on the wines we're offering. Hope you can make it!

Over the years I had a lot of requests to do wine classes but due to space limitations was never able. Now at Urban Cellar we have a wonderful small private room perfect for just such an endeavour. We will begin next Tuesday with a 3 week course called discovering wine. Great for an intro to the beverage or to expand your knowledge. We'll pour 6 well selected splashes to compare and contrast. Course cost is $40 each or $120 for the three weeks. Call us at 226 -3230 to reserve. Seating is limited so don't delay. Guaranteed to be lots of fun!

It's with great pleasure that I announce that I will be joining the folks at the Urban Cellar - wine bar, market and restaurant. They have just opened in West Des Moines on 50th and Mills Civic and will be planning lots events involving wine. We'll have a very well curated wine list as well as retail wines for sale in the market. Wine classes will be offered on a regular basis and wine dinners are being planned for monthly participation. In addition, we'll have regular wine tastings and we're going to begin a wine club shortly with carefully selected wines and cheeses, and gournet foods available at different pricing levels. If you love wine and learning about same, this is exciting news. Hope to see you there!

Great night last night. Lots of old friends coming in for a final great meal. Served our last Reuben...so sad to see it go. But we do still have some stuff to offer for today. May not have everything, but will attempt ot serve everyone well. Thanks for the memories!

It is with heavy heart that we must announce that, due to imminent construction in the Younkers space, the mall is revoking our lease and we will be closing at the end of business on March 23rd. It’s been a great 14 ½ years in business. We’ve made lots of great friends and customers and we fully appreciate your continued support. There might be a new Wine Experience in a new location as we have interested buyers but Lane and I don’t relish the idea of basically starting over.

We will be offering our remaining wine inventory at a 10% discount not including wines by the glass. If there something you’re interested in please stop in as soon as possible as we won’t be replenishing anything but the wines by the glass.

We’ll have our full menu available as long as possible, but may phase items out as they’re depleted. So if you want that last hummus platter or reuben sandwich now is the time. The lobster bisque as well as our wonderful quiches will soon be a thing of the past so act soon. The cubano, turkey sandwich, or chicken caeser Panini will be gone as well. And for you fans (you know who you are) don’t forget to get one last pear and stilton sandwich. Or one last handmade pizza. Whatever you desire, our commitment to quality and taste will not be sacrificed.
