Welcome to Oregon Hill Winery, where all our wine has been produced and bottled for the last 42 years.
When opening up today, I had to pause to take in the beauty around and reflect on the history of this old bank barn.
Built around 1880’s, the cow barn had a spring fed cooling box which had spring water continuously flowing through to keep the milk cans chilled before there was modern refrigeration.
The “new” addition of cement was poured in 1932 and you can still see the chicken, dogs and small child’s footprints.
There was a lot of work to be done to turn this “old barn” into a winery. Cow stanchions, straw and hay, and of course, cow manure had to be removed to make room for a winery.
We were able to preserve a lot of the original beams, wooden farm rakes, saws and even a scalding trough, which makes a nice wine holder in modern times!
This is the outside, come visit and see the history inside!
