As our spring league sessions wrap up at Cushion, I can't help but reflect on how awesome this community is. So, I wanted to take a couple seconds to highlight some of the awesomeness:
Recently, we had a large group of Up Top TAP Pool League players venture out to Rally in the Valley at the Super Billiards expo in Philadelphia. Alycia Oz worked her tail off to support 34+ players out there and we all had a blast! 27 of the players play league at Cushion, WOW!!! Huge support from the Cushion crew! It's awesome to see the players' commitment and dedication to the game translating to events like this, hats off to everyone that went!
Ultimate Pool League's inaugural session is nearing an end. We learned a lot about the format and have the systems dialed in, and let me tell you, it's a blast! It's a great way to challenge your abilities and add another level of competition and excitement to the game. Huge shout out to all the players in Ultimate for your continued support in making this first season a success! Can't wait to see what teams go to nationals to compete for the $100,000+ payout!
We have also seen some significant improvement in the level of league play and it showed out in the APA MVP tournament where we had 4 players from Cushion win their respective division! Andrea Webster, Mike Ezyk, Micah Mayhew, and Marc Ryan Hofmeister all won their tournaments with several other players from Cushion qualifying and making good runs! Again, commitment and dedication, putting the time in and time on the Diamonds paid off!
Additionally, to leagues, Cushion has now established some regular tournaments. The Tuesday 9 ball chip tournament, monthly open 10 ball, and Friday night lights monthly scotch doubles (formerly JJ) have all been a great time! There's always so much excitement and laughter in these events with some great play to top it off! Big shout out to everyone who has played and who has helped run these tourneys along the way, Kelly Pendleton, Stephanie Mihlader, Cole Martin, and most importantly Ashley Jacqmain thanks for helping everything run so smoothly!
Special thanks to Chris Parent for running the monthly 10 ball and all of the other little things you do around the Cushion, it does not go unnoticed and I'm so glad to have you a part of the community. It sets a tone and translates down to everyone as I constantly see people helping cover tables, or offering tips, or supporting each other's game and so much more! I appreciate everyone who contributes to making and keeping Cushion what it is today!
So, to end, big thanks to everyone who has stepped foot into Cushion! It's awesome to see the community grow and support the game of pool! Let's keep it going!
