Our featured wines this weekend are an all-American lineup, specifically the West Coast. I did manage to restrain myself from picking all Pacific Northwest Wines, but it wasn’t easy. Oregon wines are some of my personal favorites, but they come with a price tag to match their quality for sure!
Brave Cellars: Pinot Gris (Willamette Valley, Oregon)
Crisp light bodied wine, with pear, green apple, and subtle tropical hints. Dry, clean, and mineral-driven with good acidity and a fresh finish. Because it sees time resting on the lees (sur lie), the palate gains depth, weight, and a rich, broad texture.
Incredibly diverse food wine (or no food at all), but pairs well with scallop ceviche, roasted white fish, soft cheeses, light pasta dishes.
100% sourced from the Biodynamic-certified Momtazi Vineyard.
Airfield Estates: Sauvignon Blanc (Yakima Valley, Washington)
Bright, fresh, citrus and tropical notes. Candied pineapple and grapefruit rind. New Zealand-derived yeast strain to preserve fresh fruit character.
92pts Wine Enthusiast: “Crisp, grassy… packed with aromas and flavors of lemongrass, lemon sorbet, melon and shredded coconut… electric acidity… guava and saline finish”
Pairs well with goats’ cheese, feta, seafood, and light Asian dishes due to its bright acidity and aromatic profile.
Established in 1968 as vineyard estate, a portion of the family property at Airfield Estates operated as a training base for hundreds of Army Air Corps pilots during World War II.
Day Owl: Rose (California)
Features a trifecta of ruby red grapefruit, strawberry, and tangerine notes, complemented by light minerality and a hint of rose water.
Pressed with minimal skin contact and cool-fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its juicy, vibrant fruit character. Varietal is 100% Barbera, sourced from Madera County, Central Coast, and Paso Robles areas.
Sunny California in a glass.
Pair with watermelon and mint salad, spicy poke tacos, or avocado toast.
Sub Plot Cellars: PREFIX red blend (Columbia Valley, Washington)
Crafted to be fruit-forward, well-balanced, and highly accessible right out of the bottle. Ripe and juicy fruit, a hint of spice, and a smooth, lingering finish.
Varietals: 58% Cab Sauv 20% Merlot 18% Syrah 2% Malbec 2% Cab Franc
It highlights the signature vibrancy of the Columbia Valley with supple tannins, making it a highly versatile wine for everyday sipping or pairing with food.
Ca’ Momi: Rosso red blend (California)
Aromas of raspberry, plum and blackberry, with a touch of vanilla. On the palate, experience deep, powerful fruit notes of fresh blackberry and blueberry compote, complemented by mellow oak, caramel, and a hint of spice.
Varietals: Cab Sauv, Zinfandel, Merlot, Petit Syrah
90pts Wine Enthusiast: “Aromas of rich, dark Bing cherry, plum, dried brush, and toasted oak circle around the rim of the glass, with a promise of a whisper of satisfying silky tannins, more fruit, and a spicy finish on the palate. This one is great with a grilled steak or a glass of wine to start the meal.”
Hope to see you in the lounge or store this weekend!
Cheers,
Michelle
