We’re set up all weekend at the Pittsburgh Soul Food Festival, right at the Boulevard of the Allies exit after you come through the Fort Pitt Tunnels and cross the Fort Pitt Bridge. We’ll be here today, tomorrow, and Sunday. Come out, grab some food, and say hello!

As we head into fall, we’re finally at a point where we can begin revamping the Santello’s menu.

We have built an entirely new menu, but we’re not going to release it all at once and overwhelm our kitchen. Instead, we’re going to introduce it slowly through weekly specials. This will give our kitchen staff time to learn every dish, make it correctly and perfect it before it earns a permanent place on the menu.

Santello’s is going to become much more seafood focused. Around here, you generally have to travel to places like Off the Hook or Monterey Bay to find a serious seafood selection. We want to bring something completely different to Washington while continuing to serve the steaks, pasta dishes and higher-end bar food you already love.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll begin seeing dishes like Lobster Corn Dogs, Crawfish Beignets, Chargrilled Oysters, Charred Spanish Octopus, Crispy Lake Smelts, Crab-Stuffed Atlantic Salmon, Lobster and Crab Cavatelli, and our Strawberry Blackened Shrimp Salad.

We’re also getting serious about soup this fall. Beginning in approximately two to three weeks, we’ll introduce rotating soup flights so you can try several at once and tell us which ones deserve a permanent place on the menu.

Our opening soup rotation will include:

Pasta Fagioli
Southwestern Pennsylvania Wedding Soup
Seattle Smoked Salmon Chowder
Wisconsin Beer Cheese Soup
Texas Brisket Chili
Jumbo Lump Crab Bisque with Sherry

This transition won’t happen overnight. We’re going to take our time, train our kitchen and introduce each dish the right way.

We want you to try these specials. We want your honest feedback. And we want you to help us decide what becomes part of the new Santello’s menu.

We hope you’ll love it and will be as excited as we are.

Sorry for the poor video quality, but this band is really good.

Band inside, DJ outside on the deck, and the vibe out there is super chill tonight. We’ll keep the deck parties going until the weather doesn’t cooperate anymore, probably around the time we switch downstairs over to the Halloween pop-up.

A lot going on this week at Santello’s:

First, we’re getting ready to completely revamp our menu. We’re keeping the favorites, changing some things, adding some new things, and building an entirely new menu that we’re really excited about.

This week, you can also find BOTH of our food trucks at the Washington County Fair.

The Santello’s Food Truck is down in the heart of the fair, right by the main field where the rodeo is held.

The Bammaw’s House Food Truck is up top by the main animal show tent. We’ll have breakfast up there, but we’re also serving the Santello’s menu from that truck all day. So wherever you are at the fair, come find us. We’ll be there all week.

Then we have a full weekend back at Santello’s.

Friday night: Twisted Fate and DJ Ed Lover.

Saturday night: Neon Bridges is back after an amazing performance the last time they were here, plus DJ Fed Ex keeping the party going out on the deck.

We’re going to keep these deck parties going as long as the weather lets us. Once it starts cooling down, we’ll move things downstairs, start decorating for Halloween, and get ready for everything we have planned for fall.

New menu coming. Two trucks at the fair all week. Live music. DJs. Deck parties.

I want to give a huge shoutout to Bloomfield’s Little Italy Days.

This was our first year there, and what a phenomenal experience from beginning to end.

The people, the hospitality, the music, the culture, everything about the weekend was amazing.

And I especially want to thank Tessaro’s, Lot 17 and Saint Ravioli. They took care of us all weekend with ice, water and whatever else we needed because getting in and out with everything going on wasn’t easy. They didn’t have to do that, but they did, and that says a lot about the people and businesses in that neighborhood.

The amount of support and love we received all weekend was incredible.

Thank you to everyone who continues to put Little Italy Days together and keeps this tradition alive. Thank you to Bloomfield for welcoming us and allowing us to be a small part of it.

We had an absolute blast and couldn’t have asked for a better first experience.

What a phenomenal weekend. We can’t wait to come back.
