- We host authentic traditional Take Over bachata parties, locally and internationally: Invite us to host your event and make it as Dominican party authentic as possible. We will come to where you are, anywhere in the world.

Great News 😊! The long and bitter "CHANGE THE NAME" Bachata & Sensual War has finally come to an end 🕺🏾🙌🏾💃🏾.

This week, the United Dances general assembly (meeting) in New York City, brought together dance leaders from all over the world. One of the main agenda during this powerful annual gathering of dance world leaders, was for Bachata and Sensual to come to the table and end the Bachata War.

After years of fighting to Change the Name, the Sensual dance community has finally surrendered the name Bachata. They signed a Peace Treaty that forbids them from ever calling their dance Bachata (anything). Their dance is now officially known as "Sensual."

The two communities have also agreed to co-exist peacefully and respectfully, under their own unique name, without further confusing the dance world.... Using correct name labels matter.

This is a huge win for Bachata.

Our hope is that our Sensual brothers and sisters will not violate this Peace Treaty. We want peace only. Not problems. We wish the Sensual community all the best, with their more fitting new name🙏🏽🫶🏽.

Furthermore... How should the event organizers have handled this? How should the female dancer have handled this? What can other male dancers learn from this? Feel free to share whatever comes to your mind, respectfully....

Context is everything, so:

- This was a Jack & Jill dance competition at a Sensual event (I believe). It happened last weekend.
- The dancers didn't know each other before this competition.
- The dancers danced together a few times before this particular incident, and I believe they danced again after this incident, during the same competition.
- Yesterday, the female dancer published a Sexual Harrassment post on Instagram detailing what happened and how she felt.
- No one should be made to feel unsafe or violated on the dance floor.
- Dance should be a safe space and place for ALL.

Daylight Bachata name robbery alert by Eventopeople Roma ....

Bachata name thieves (event organizer, event promoters) spotted in daylight, stealing and robbing Bachata of her rightful name and giving it away to "Sensual" and renaming Bachata to "Bachata Dominicana / Bachata Dominican" with adjectives. Why didn't they add an adjective to the middle "Bachata as in Bachata Sensual" although we know that Sensual is not Bachata.

This is wrong. They are working over type to erase Bachata and her true identity... These people have the nerve... On this flyer, they completely assigned Bachata to Sensual, and simply called that dance as Bachata, while they called Bachata as "Dominican Bachata." These people and their lack of care and integrity for Dominican Republic and her culture, roots, Bachata etc., makes me sick 😫 🤮.

Gaby Galan / gabyyestefyoficial , as a Dominican, how can you allow this to happen and for your face to be put on a flyer that completely disrespects you and your culture? Are you OK with this? Did you speak up? Did you ask them to make the correction? For crying out loud, take a stand for your people, for your culture, for your identity and for your country... These people have no regard for you and yours. Stop giving them a pass for bad behavior....

This is why we speak up and continue to speak up. Bachata is Bachata and it is ONLY from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴. Please say NO to cultural appropriation.
