Congratulations to the "No to cultural appropriation, Bachata is Bachata" movement, the (modern day) King and Prince of Bachata, Romeo Santos and Prince Royce have redeemed themselves and gave the movement a seal of approval and support with their HARD, powerful, direct and straightforward Ay! San Miguel music video. I dare anyone who accused us of spreading hate and division through this movement, to also accuse Romeo Santos and Prince Royce of also spreading hate and division through this video....

The Bachata community is rooted in love, unity, and respect, from a diverse group of people and dancers, from all walks of life, who truly share the same ideals, values and respect for Bachata and all her attributes: the culture, the roots, the history, the heritage, the people of the culture and the identity. Defending, protecting and preserving these values and ideals does not equate to hate and division.

Our position is very clear: We are all for unity with other dance styles that are inspired by Bachata, but they are not Bachata. Anyone can dance whatever they want, as long as they don't call it or misrepresent it as Bachata or Bachata anything because those dances look, smell, and feel nothing like Bachata. They are not Bachata. Those dances deserve their own unique names that are not attached to Bachata. We don't believe that they are an evolution of Bachata.

We are also for respecting one another in the dance community. Respect is a two way street and respect comes before unity 🤝. Respect is earned. Respect starts with respecting Bachata and her roots.

Acknowledging that her name is Bachata and calling her by her name is respecting and accepting who she is FULLY! Bachata is Bachata. Please respect the roots. Don't misuse her name and we can all end the Bachata feud and live together harmoniously. That's what we all want. Respect is not just talked about... Respect is lived, Respect is earned.... Respect is the HIGHEST form of honor and love.

Please say NO to cultural appropriation. Bachata is Bachata and it is from Dominican Republic. One love ❤️🫶🏽.

La comunidad de la bachata se fundamenta en el amor, la unidad y el respeto, y está integrada por un grupo diverso de personas y bailarines de todos los ámbitos de la vida, que comparten los mismos ideales, valores y respeto por la bachata y todos sus atributos: la cultura, las raíces, la historia, la herencia, la gente que la representa y la identidad. Bachata is an INTANGIBLE cultural heritage of humanity, as declared by UNESCO. This means that it cannot be altered, tampered with, destroyed, distorted, and misrepresented. World heritages are meant to be defended, protected and preserved at all cost, especially by the nations of those heritages.

The Bachata Police 🚔 is here to defend, protect and preserve the identity and essence of Bachata, respectfully.

Dance whatever style you want. But please be respectful and don't call it Bachata or present it as Bachata (anything), when it is not. Dances like Sensual are not Bachata. They are not Bachata evolutions, either. Dance evolutions occur naturally in their respective cultural and national communities. They are not forcefully CREATED in dance studios and DJ booths, by foreigners who have no understanding of the culture of that dance, music, the country and the people of that country. Taking something that was shared to the world, in love, by the people of the culture and turning around and forcefully distorting something from another culture, that does not belong to you, and misrepresenting for monetary gain and profit is cultural appropriation.

Cultural appropriation is not love. It is disrespect. Say no to cultural appropriation. Bachata is Bachata and it is from the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴.
