When Shaw’s Tavern started piano bar nights, Tim Timothy J. Warguleski attended with enough frequency to endear himself to all of us. We loved him. He was interesting, not afraid to voice opinions ( which I happen to love) , was friendly and up for anything. We had long conversations where I could tell I was getting on his nerves a bit, which I appreciated knowing-or I should say ‘feeling’ because he never said that out loud. But I knew. He communicated honesty like that. He had a great voice and good taste in music. He shared songs he liked with me, which I appreciated. After hearing him sing, I begged him to be in our comedy show, ‘Somehow I’ll Be Famous’. He chose ‘My Unfortunate Erection’ as his solo. He was great on it. (Me, just passable. ) He often sang a heartfelt version of ‘Santa Fe’ from Newsies, which I tie to him to this day because I got to back him up on it so often. I always told him how good I thought he was, not to mention he was photogenic as heck. That bone structure fit for Clark Kent! Sigh. He had other favorites ‘Prince Ali’, the ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ soundtrack, ‘My Eyes’ from Dr. Horrible’s Singalong. Tim performed a solo Christmas song in our pre-mini show at the big Christmas Carol Singalong, also at Shaw’s Tavern. To hear of his passing so suddenly and at such a young age is heartbreaking. Tim, I hope you found your version of ‘Santa Fe’. You will forever be a part of mine. A founding member of our piano bar family, you were a beautiful human being and a shining, wise soul.
