We’re doing a late night feature next week! We’ll be pouring some stellar, under the radar wines from the Languedoc in France. This massive region can trace its wine growing heritage way back - from the Roman times all the way to Charlemagne and Medieval France!

Back to School 🏫 🎒 it's that time of year and we are headed to class. Nothing is better than getting a little hands on with your learning than with side by side comparisons! We all know the Argentinian Malbec (Classic) but have you tried one from France (where the grape is from)?? Remix! Or maybe put two Amber (orange) styles together and see the different a place makes! As we know the best learning comes through experience!

P.S. if you're looking for some real book learnin' we have a Comparison Tasting Class on Sunday 9/18 (tickets on our website)

All this week we are getting fizzy with it!

Started by in DC in ‘14 to showcase the good examples of white, rose and red Lambrusco.

Did you know….

Labrusca is the ancient Roman name for the family of Lambrusco grape varieties, believed by many to be among the earliest grapes used to produce wine.

Old School Italians are known to check the alcohol level to make sure it’s at least 11 because under 11% is deemed to have too much sugar and is “fake Lambrusco”.

Bologna, the capital of Emilia-Romagna means “The Fat One”.

Bottle fermented Lambrusco accounts for 1-2% of Lambrusco but accounts for some of the best ones produced!

Emilia-Romagna is the Charcuterie Capital of the world. Prosciutto, Bolognese, Mortadella and many other were all invented here.

People walk the streets in Emilia-Romagna with cups of dry Lambrusco and cups of meat. It’s the regional pairing for the meat sweats!

Cheap, sweet, Lambrusco was the most imported wine in the US in the 70’s and 80’s. It’s why most people think of Lambrusco as sh*tty sweet wine. Most of it still is. Ed Hardy makes a Lambrusco.

Spring is in full swing at Maxwell Park! Buds are breaking in the vineyards, butterflies and bees are bouncing in the gardens from bloom to bloom, and this can only mean one thing: Rosé season is upon us! Listen as the birds sing out, “Now that your rosé’s in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey!” That’s right, we admit it, Rosé.“ There’s just so much that we can tell you, so much we can say... To us you’re like a growing addic- tion that we can’t deny!” So as we do each Spring here at Maxwell, we will be featuring throughout the month of May rosés and other skin-contact wines of all sorts, from all over the world, and we are bringing new meaning to the phrase rosé all day. The wines we will be showcasing aren’t just your everyday patio-pounders (though we’ll have a few of those within reach as well, so fret not!) We’re talking about serious juice, with all sorts of stories to share and lessons to impart along the way. Join us, and hear them for yourselves! “Ooooh, the more we get of you the stranger it feels, yeeaaah!”

Volcanic wines are produced under some of the most extreme viticultural conditions on the planet. So when Eddie Van Halen gave the title “Eruption” to one of the most extreme (one might even call it pyroclastic) guitar solos on the planet, the connection was clear. The eruption of power and intensity coming from that guitar might have been pyroclastic, but it was also not without its own kind of finesse. The same can be said of the wines we at Maxwell Park will be featuring throughout the month of April. We’ll be On Fire, Runnin’ With the Devil, showcasing wines grown in soils borne of intense Eruptions from all over the world. So wake up, Little Dreamers, tap into your inner volcanologist, and get down to Maxwell!

For the past month, our hearts have broken as we’ve witnessed the horrors occurring in Ukraine.

In addition to what we’re doing individually, we’ve come together as a team to do what we can to help support the Ukranian people.

With every glass that’s purchased on our Flight for Ukraine, we’ll donate $1 to .for.Ukraine, which is providing emergency humanitarian assistance during this crisis.

Listen tho…and get your calendars out! We’ve got some fun things planned over the next month.

Feb 15: The 4th installation of the rollicking comedy troupe at Navy Yard. Sometimes we all need a Riesling to be cheerful, so come ready to wine a little and laugh a lot.

February 20: Join sommeliers Rigel and JT as we explore the untamed wilderness of some bonafide fossil wines. You can bet Jurass(ic) will be worth it. (ticket link in bio)

March 2: Navy Yard is turning 2! Come celebrate our Birthday with an insane list half-off bubbles while sets the party vibe!
