Next week, September 14th - 20th is DSP week! At Rising Sun we are so thankful and blessed to have an incredible team of Direct Support Professionals. Every day, a DSP wears a hundred different hats. We are caregivers, teachers, advocates, cheerleaders, chauffeurs, problem-solvers, planners, counselors, friends, and so much more. We help with medications and appointments, encourage independence, teach life skills, support goals, celebrate accomplishments, calm fears, and sometimes simply sit beside someone when they need us. We are cooks, cleaners, activity planners, event coordinators, safety officers, communicators, and sometimes even comedians. No two days are ever exactly the same, and no two individuals need the same kind of support. Being a DSP means showing up with patience, compassion, flexibility, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to help someone live their best and most independent life. We don’t just wear many hats, we wear them all at once, and we wear them with heart. ❤️We are so excited to share a little about our amazing team throughout next week so stay tuned to get to know them all a little better! 🎉

💜☀️Celebrating 15 Years of Rising Sun Centers! ☀️💜

Fifteen years. What an incredible journey it has been. 🥹

Over the past 15 years, Rising Sun Centers has grown in so many ways, but one thing has never changed — the heart behind what we do.

What started with Marilyn and her vision has grown into something so much bigger than a day program. Rising Sun Centers has become a family. A place where everyone is welcomed, valued, supported, and encouraged to simply be themselves.

Our goal has always been to create a place that feels like home — where the individuals we serve can walk through our doors, be exactly who they are, make friends, laugh, try new things, make memories, and experience everything our community has to offer. From the everyday moments at the center to the adventures we take out into the community, every moment matters.

Over these 15 years, we have had the privilege of knowing and serving so many incredible individuals. Some have been with us for many years, while others have only crossed our doors for a short time — but every single person has left a piece of themselves here and has helped make Rising Sun Centers what it is today.

They are truly what makes our Rising Sun shine. ☀️

We are incredibly grateful to the families, providers, friends, staff, and everyone who has trusted us along the way. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives and for trusting us with the people who mean so much to you. That trust means more than we could ever put into words.

And to Marilyn and Sarah — thank you for having the vision and the heart to start it all 15 years ago. What you created has touched countless lives and continues to grow because of the love and dedication at its foundation. ❤️

Here’s to 15 years of friendship, memories, laughter, growth, community, and family.

And to everyone who has been a part of our journey — thank you for helping make Rising Sun Centers what it is today.

Rising Sun Center Changed My Life ❤️☀️

Sometimes God places you exactly where you’re meant to be, and for me, that place is Rising Sun . ❤️

Being a DSP at Rising Sun is so much more than a job to me it’s a blessing, a purpose, and a part of my life that brings so much excitement, joy, and happiness to my heart. Every day, I have the opportunity to make a difference, create memories, encourage someone, and be a source of love and support.

🎉Celebrating my 2nd year with the individuals I serve they have taught me so much about patience, compassion, strength, acceptance, and what it truly means to celebrate the little things in life. The smiles, the laughter, the accomplishments, and even the challenging moments all remind me why I chose this path. 🥰

Rising Sun has changed me in ways I never expected. It has helped me grow professionally, personally, and spiritually, and I’m so grateful for every person who has been a part of that journey.

I am proud to be a DSP at Rising Sun Centers, and I’m even more proud to say that I don’t just come to work I come with love, purpose, and a heart ready to make a difference. ❤️☀️

We wanted to take a moment to share some information with you about an upcoming benefit being held in our community.

This benefit is being organized by a mother whose daughter attends Rising Sun Centers, who has generously taken the initiative to bring this event together. We are truly honored and grateful that she has chosen to do something so thoughtful for our organization and, most importantly, for the individuals we serve. Her willingness to dedicate her time, energy, and heart to supporting them means more to us than we can express.

The benefit is an independent, family-led event that is open to the general public. We also believe it is a wonderful opportunity to bring greater awareness to the population we serve and to celebrate the incredible people who are such an important part of our RSC family.

If you or your family would like to attend, tickets will be available for purchase directly through the event organizer.

We are incredibly fortunate to have families who care so deeply about our program and who are willing to go above and beyond to show their support.

If you'd like to contribute to this event, Sandy will be accepting donations of baskets to be raffled off.
