Tonight, we will open Z’s doors to the public for the last time. Please come and enjoy the beautiful space that has been the spot that has celebrated couple date nights, friendships, birthdays, graduations, engagements, bridal showers, wedding rehearsal dinners, baby showers, reunions, corporate events, wine and spirit tastings, etc. Z’s has been a great place to celebrate or to just relax. If you’ve never been to Z’s, tonight will be your last night to check out our beautiful bar built in 1911.
Z’s began in my head as a mom trying to find a way to support a daughter’s dream. I set out to create a beautiful, upscale, cozy place for couples for date nights, friends gathering together, business meetings, and for women to feel safe. I wanted to create something Waco did not have. I wanted to create the place where I wanted to hang out. I believe I accomplished my goal.
It’s been a fun chapter! I’ve met several celebrities and others, many who have become some of my best friends, only because they walked through Z’s doors. I’ve got so many great memories from Z’s and I learned so much about the hospitality/service industry. It is hard work!
I want to thank Carrie for taking on the management role and keeping Z’s open these past few years. My attention was on renovating a home, planning two weddings, trips, and the birth of my first grandchild but Carrie took care of everything on her own without much support. Thank you so much, Carrie! I wish you blessings as you go pursue your dreams. I also want to thank all of Z’s loyal friends/customers for your consistent support. Without you, Z’s wouldn’t have been a success. Thank you all for being a part of Z’s story.
People have asked about what I am going to do with the bar. Since I can’t bear to part with it, I am taking it with me and will have a stunning bar in the home I still plan to build. We will be selling some of the furnishings soon and will let you all know.
I would love for you all to make a point to write in my book at Z’s (at the hostess stand) and tell me what Z’s has meant to you.
This is all so bittersweet….
Oh well, on to my next chapter! Cheers!
