✨ Employee Spotlight: Meet Milinda McGee ✨
This week’s employee spotlight is Milinda McGee. Better known around here as the one and only Auntie Sparkle Fart! ❤️
Born and raised in Paso Robles, California, Milinda spent time living in San Diego and even Washington before finding her way to our little town in 1985. Since then, she has become a familiar face and beloved part of the Virginia City community. Her journey began at the iconic Red’s Candies, followed by 13 years at the Delta Saloon, six years cooking for our cherished seniors at the Senior Center, and now an incredible nine years as part of The Palace family.
If you know Milinda, you know she’s one of a kind. She’s a true gangster at heart, never afraid to throw it down or boogie-woogie to whatever beat is playing. Don’t let her age fool you, she’s still 25 at heart and can rap a 2Pac song with more passion than just about anyone around. Whether she’s making people laugh, speaking her mind, or keeping everyone on their toes, Milinda brings a unique energy everywhere she goes.
To her coworkers, Milinda is family. She’s feisty, loyal, reliable, and always shows up when she’s needed. She’s the kind of person who gives an honest, no-frills opinion, stands beside the people she loves, and fights just as hard for others as she does for herself. Many describe her as a Chihuahua-Pitbull combination, cute and cuddly, but definitely comes with a bite! She’s stubborn, sassy, fearless, and never backs down from a challenge. And if a food fight or water gun fight ever breaks out, you can bet Milinda is showing up ready to compete! And somehow walks away the winner.
She loves a good fart joke, has a huge heart with a little ghetto mixed in, and has never quite given up on her dream of being Tupac’s baby mama. If you catch her behind the bar on a busy day, all she’s really looking for is a spoonful of ice cream to cure her sugar blues. More importantly, she’s the kind of person who will bring you sour candy when you’re having a rough day, make you laugh when you need it most, and do absolutely anything for the people she loves.
Milinda, thank you for your dedication, your loyalty, your fiery spirit, and the laughter you bring to our team every day. Your heart of gold, unwavering support, and larger-than-life personality make The Palace a better place. We are lucky to have you as part of our family. ❤️

✨ Employee Spotlight: Meet Laurie Serpa ✨

This week’s employee spotlight is Laurie Serpa — or as most of us know her, the voice you can hear from down the road and the laugh that can light up an entire room! ❤️

Born in Fontana, California, and raised in Tracy, California, Laurie joined The Palace family eight years ago, though many locals already knew her from her time at the Mustang Steakhouse. Over the years, she has mastered nearly every position here and has become someone we can always count on.

Laurie is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend with a heart of gold. She’s also a proud mother of two, and over the years both of her children have worked alongside her here at The Palace, making her family’s connection to our restaurant even more special. She’s the kind of person who tells it like it is, stands up for the people she loves, and never backs down from a challenge. Through every obstacle life has thrown her way, she’s met it with determination, strength, and her signature sense of humor. And if you know Laurie, you know Halloween is one of her favorite times of year—she never misses a chance to dress up in costume and hand out candy to the kids, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around her.

To her coworkers, Laurie is family. She’s hardworking, loyal, caring, and always willing to help when someone needs it most. Many of us consider her the “house mom” of The Palace — the one who looks out for everyone, keeps us laughing, and reminds us that we’re all in this together.

Laurie, thank you for your dedication, your friendship, your contagious laugh, and the love you bring to our team every day. We are lucky to have you as part of The Palace family. ❤️

✨ Employee Spotlight: Meet Rachel Mann ✨
This week’s employee spotlight is Rachel… or as many around here know her as, “Miss America of The Palace” ❤️
Born and raised in Federal Way, Washington, Rachel eventually made the move to Dayton with her dad, quickly falling in love with the sunshine, small-town charm, and the community she now proudly calls home. Since joining The Palace family in 2014, Rachel has become one of the most recognizable and beloved faces in the restaurant.
Over the last 13 years, Rachel has truly grown up at The Palace, evolving into the phenomenal waitress, host, entertainer, and friend she is today. Known for her charisma, strong work ethic, and unforgettable personality, Rachel brings something special to every shift she works. Whether she’s greeting customers with a smile, singing through the restaurant, making everyone laugh, or keeping the front running smoothly, she has a way of making people feel welcomed, appreciated, and right at home.
Rachel’s love for her customers shines through in everything she does. Many customers come back year after year asking specifically for her because they know they’ll be met with kindness, great service, laughter, and maybe even a song or two. She strives for customer service excellence every single day and consistently goes above and beyond not only for guests, but for her coworkers as well.
Our team describes Rachel as hardworking, loyal, entertaining, strong-willed, driven, and full of heart. She’s the kind of person who will tell you the truth when you need to hear it, stand beside you when things get tough, and still find a way to make you laugh through it all. Her coworkers say she feels more like family than just a teammate — someone who always tries to make the day better with her singing, humor, honesty, and caring nature.
Outside of work, Rachel is a loving and dedicated mother who gives her all to her children while continuing to push herself forward and never being afraid to try something new. She’s also incredibly creative and helps bring The Palace to life during the holidays with decorating and festive spirit that everyone enjoys.
From the Bobby days to the Gold Hill days and everything in between, Rachel has left her mark on The Palace in the best way possible. One thing everyone can agree on is this: Rachel is truly one of a kind. As one coworker perfectly said, “Rachel is the best waitress in the world.” And honestly, we couldn’t imagine The Palace without her ❤️
