We are excited to introduce our list of “Culture Influencers” for the Africana Festival 2024 happening October 5 & 6 at the 17th Street Stage/Park! These individuals are positively making an impact in Virginia and we are happy to recognize their contributions.

Julius Hayes [](caesar_said_so) served in the military for 13 years where he honed his leadership skills and instilled in him a deep sense of duty. Transitioning from military life, he charted a new course, driven by a passion for entertainment promotions and real estate investment.

Maddie G is a proud Afrolatina spoken word artist of Dominican descent. Her life and culture have given her a perspective that’s loud and clear in her poetry. She has been published in numerous anthologies and published her collection of poetry “A Vision of She” in 2022. She is also a founding member of Verb Benders Slam Team who represents our area in National Competition, consistently ranking as one of the top 10 teams in the Nation.
