Today, we stand united with our public safety brothers and sisters, our fellow coworkers, and our community to remember and honor the twelve lives taken seven years ago at Building 2. That tragic day remains forever etched in our minds and hearts.

We ask you to join us in prayer and reflection for the families and loved ones we lost, those who were seriously injured, the survivors, and all who continue to carry the physical and emotional scars of that day. We will not forget their names, their faces, or the impact they had on our lives.

The City is hosting a 5/31 Remembrance Ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. today, Sunday, May 31, at the memorial site near Building 30, 2508 Princess Anne Road. During this seventh year of remembrance, the 5/31 Memorial will be officially unveiled. The ceremony is free and open to the public and will be livestreamed online at VirginiaBeach.gov/media and on the City's page.

Wherever you are, we encourage you to wear blue and observe a moment of silence at 4:06 p.m. on May 31, marking the time the first 911 call was received.
