Last week, Soufflet Malt was proud to be part of Drinktec 2025 in Munich, the world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry! 🍺✨

It was an unforgettable week where we:

✅ Showcased centuries of authentic brewing & distilling tradition through our Heritage Brands: Great Western Malting, Durst Malz, Canada Malting Co. Limited, Bairds Malt Limited, Barrett Burston Malting, Castle Malting S.A., and Tchecomalt.

☕ Partnered with two-time French Barista Champion Brice Robin to surprise the crowd with a new malt-based coffee drink.

🏆 Celebrated being chosen as a finalist for the Drinktec Innovation Awards in the ingredient innovation category.

🍪 Sampled delicious 100% malt chocolate biscuits (0 cocoa!), a smart alternative for forward-thinking producers.

As the barley harvest winds down across North America, we pause to recognize the stewards of our most essential ingredient: the barley growers. Through scorching heat, shifting rainfall, and mounting pressures to farm more sustainably, our farmers rise to the challenge—year after year. They don’t ask for recognition, but we see the grit, the care, and the generational knowledge that goes into every acre, making what we do possible. Without their hard work, there is no malt. Without malt, there is no beer. No industry. No community. The Great Western Malting team was proud to welcome this year’s attendees to our 2025 Malting Course this week in Pocatello, Idaho and Salt Lake City, Utah!

From barley fields to malt analysis, distilling sensory to full plant tours, we took a deep dive into the art and science of malting. 🌾

This hands-on experience gave brewers, distillers, and (for the first time!) media guests an inside look at every stage of the malting journey.

Here’s to a week of knowledge sharing, flavor exploration, and a deeper connection to the grain that starts it all.🍻

Say hello to Chit Malt—your go-to for haze stability, foam retention, and pillowy mouthfeel, now crafted from locally-sourced Pacific Northwest barley. This under-modified premium 2-row malt delivers all the performance you expect, with the reliability and cost-efficiency of a domestic option. Perfect for Hazy IPAs, NEIPAs, and anything that needs a little extra oomph.

And ICYMI: We also just launched Low Color Wheat Malt last week. Yep, our lightest wheat malt ever (SRM < 2) — packed with body and head retention without the color.
