One of my BIGGEST pet peeves in the wedding industry? WATER. 💧🤦🏼♀️
We’re in TEXAS. It’s hot, people are drinking, and for the love of sweet tea, these guests need WATER!
And I cannot tell you how many times this exact situation plays out.
During consultations? “Please check with your caterer about water service.”
In our contracts? We specifically address water service and even offer dedicated water stations for an additional charge. Bot in budget? I suggest Costco 48 flat of waters in a cooler.
During our final wedding recap? “Just confirming, who is handling the water?”
And yet, somehow, someway, the caterers pack up, take the water with them, and suddenly 100 thirsty wedding guests are staring at the bartenders like we personally drained Lake Travis. 💀
And here’s what really gets me. We work HARD to make sure every detail is covered, every garnish is prepped, every cocktail is beautiful, and every guest has a wonderful experience. But when something outside our contracted services falls through, we’re the ones standing there looking unprepared.
Yet somehow, time and time again, guests end up at our bar asking for water because the caterer packed theirs up after dinner.
And guess who looks unprepared? 🙋🏼♀️
To my fellow caterers, we’re ALL in the service industry. If clients pay for water service, is it really fair to pack it up just as the party gets started?
Could we find simple solutions, like attractive disposable carafes left on tables?
We’re all working toward the same goal: an incredible guest experience, let’s follow thru on the services we get paid to do.
Please tell me I’m not alone on this.
