If you’re a who transitioned from a different field (teachers, SAHMs, etc.) with ZERO experience, this post is for you!👏🏽
I know you’ve invested A LOT of time, money, and resources into this career because you wanted more for yourself, or maybe flexibility, but for whatever reason you’re starting to get discouraged because all of those efforts are yielding minimal to no results…
But here’s the silver lining… it’s not because the jobs aren’t out there!
😩 It’s because your resume is still positioned for your previous career, and employers aren’t convinced (yet) you have the skills to apply to these NEW roles.

Your BIGGEST selling point will be “transferable skills” but you have to make them relatable to that employer.
You also have to be mindful of placement and link the most RELEVANT transferable skills throughout the descriptions of the “Work History” section of your resume.
Changing over to a new career is never easy, but it’s totally possible when you position yourself the right way. You’ve got the skills! Now you just need to show employers how they translate into the medical coding world.
Don’t give up!✨
🔌P.S. Make sure your cover letter is professional, briefly explains your career transition in a way that highlights your strengths, and clearly shows why you’re the perfect candidate for the role. This is your chance to connect the dots between your past experience and the value you bring to the new position BEFORE the interview!
