The Story Behind Raices Skin Co. 💚🤍🤎
Every business starts with a reason, and ours started with a personal awakening.
My concern about the excessive use of chemicals in our everyday lives began after my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. At that time, I didn’t fully understand how many ingredients surrounded us daily or how much of what we used on our bodies came from products filled with unnecessary additives.
It wasn’t until I took an essential oil class for soap making that everything changed. That class opened my eyes and sparked a curiosity in me to learn more about what we put on our skin and how I could create safer, more intentional products at home.
What started with making handmade soaps slowly grew into a passion. I began researching, experimenting, and learning how to make more products myself instead of constantly buying store brands filled with ingredients we simply didn’t need. I wanted to return to something simpler — products inspired by nature and made with purpose.
As I shared my creations, friends and family became interested in the same journey. They started replacing traditional brand-name products with handmade alternatives that felt cleaner, more meaningful, and more connected to the way nature intended.
Eventually, I realized this passion could become something bigger. After overcoming many fears and doubts, I took the leap and launched my first small business under a different name.
But throughout the years, I felt something was missing. I wanted my business to represent more than just handmade skincare — I wanted it to honor my roots.
That’s when Raices Skin Co. was born.
“Raices” means “roots” in Spanish, and it represents my connection to my Puerto Rican heritage, my family, and the natural ingredients that come from the earth. It represents going back to the basics, honoring where we come from, and creating products with love and intention.
Today, Raices Skin Co. has been a journey of almost 6 years filled with challenges, lessons, growth, and beautiful moments. And now, one son later, I’m still here — still creating, still learning, and still fighting for this dream.
Honestly, this little business feels like my second baby (LOL), and I can’t wait to see where this journey continues to take us.
