Tailwinds Brewery recently acquired a vintage TWA flight bag announcing the inaugural service of their newly acquired Convair 880, affectionately nicknamed the “SuperJet,” departing from ORD on January 12, 1961. Collectible airline memorabilia often gives us a rough idea of its era, but finding a piece tied to a specific date always adds an extra level of historical connection. The red flight bag with white lettering is on the shelf above the glass display cabinet in our taproom.

In alignment with the release of our Oktoberfleiger Marzen, we thought we'd share this little tidbit of commercial aviation history in our Tailwinds Aviation Facts #6.
For those who may not know, a "Marzen" is an Octoberfest beer. Octoberfest beers that are brewed "true to style" are lagers. Our classic German Oktoberfest lager features rich toasted bread and caramel malt flavors, balanced by gentle hop bitterness and a clean, crisp finish. Lagered for months in our horizontal lagering tanks, This beer is old school brewing resulting in a smooth, naturally carbonated version of the classic Oktoberfest style. Vintage brewing, Vintage travel, it's what Tailwinds Brewing is all about. Prost!
