NEPTUNE HS GRADUATE TO RECEIVE ROTC SCHOLARSHIP FROM AMERICAN LEGION IN UNION BEACH

On Monday, June 15, a special ceremony will take place in Union Beach. Naval Jr. ROTC Cadet Elizabeth Wisner, a graduating senior at Neptune High School, will be presented with a scholarship from Union Beach American Legion Post 321 and SAL Squadron 321.

Cadet Wisner is recognized for excellence in academics, patriotism, and dedication to the ROTC Unit selected from graduating class in the ROTC program.

Cadet Wisner will be attending Brookdale Community College in the fall, with studies in Veterinary Medicine.

Cadet Wisner was chosen based on the criteria of the graduating seniors in the ROTC program. USN Chief Petty Officer Richard Tate and USMC Sergeant Major Carlos Orjuela, Advisors to the Unit, chose Cadet Wisner for her excellence.

Members of the Neptune High School Jr ROTC also participated in recent grave marker dedications of previously unmarked Veteran graves in cemeteries in Hazlet and Freehold. The Cadets assisted members of Union Beach American Legion Post 321, SAL Squadron 321, and Unit 321 Auxiliary with their ongoing project of placing and dedicating missing grave markers.

Scheduled to present the scholarship to Ms. Wisner is NWS Earle Commanding Officer Captain Kean Smith. Tentatively scheduled to attend the ceremony are her family, ROTC Advisors, and Cadets from the Neptune High School ROTC program, along with officers and members of the Union Beach American Legion Post 321 Family to honor Ms. Wisner.

The ceremony will begin on June 15 at 6:00 pm sharp, and the public is invited. The Legion is located at 524 Front Street, Union Beach NJ 07735.
