We have been brewing dangerously good ales on the North Shore of Lake Superior since 2011. After out-growing our 3-bbl brewhouse in Castle Danger, we opened a new location in downtown Two Harbors with a much larger brewing system, allowing us to brew enough beer to expand further into Minnesota and add a canning line. We distribute our beer in Minnesota to bars & restaurants to enjoy by the glass

and to liquor stores to buy canned beer. Our taproom is open year-round, with a fantastic patio overlooking Lake Superior. Castle Danger beers are all designed with a flavor profile in mind. We may start with a base style, but expand upon it to create something unique. There are hundreds of great beers that are true-to-style available in the beer market. We prefer to use traditional brewing practices to produce unique, flavorful beers. In our minds, this is the only way to approach brewing. Castle Danger Brewery started in 2011 as a small 3-barrel production brewery in Castle Danger, Minnesota, 12 miles northeast of Two Harbors off of Highway 61 at a small resort on Lake Superior. By the end of 2013, our expansion project began and we were soon knee-deep in construction during the coldest winter on record. Our steel building frame even showed up on a 26-below-zero day in January. We are now happy to be brewing in downtown Two Harbors on a 30-bbl brewing system, complete with a canning line and taproom that seats 130 people. The move into Two Harbors has also given us the opportunity to be brewing with the finest water available: fresh Lake Superior water.

The Superior Hiking Trail Association helps manage, maintain and promote the Superior Hiking Trail, protecting more than 300 miles of beautiful North Shore trail for all of us to enjoy.

And grabbing a 6-pack at your local store isn’t the only way to support the trail. Stop by the taproom for a pint, or take a Maple Märzen home in a crowler or growler. 🍻

A little behind-the-scenes look at how our Specialty Sips go from an idea in the lab to the Minnesota State Fair! 🍻

The Lift stopped by to chat with Joel Fidler and Rich Powell about the not-so-secret science (and a little bit of weirdness) behind creating some of our favorite Fair b**rs.

From Blood Orange Cream Ale to Hazy Pineapple Whip, there’s a lot of tasting, tweaking and asking, “Wait… do you think this will work?” that goes into each Specialty Sip.

Fresh Hop Fest is returning to the Taproom on Saturday, October 17 from 11:00am–6:00pm!

The monarch migration is upon us. 🦋

We’ve been fans of monarchs for some time! This original piece of artwork has been part of the Castle Danger Brewery story for years, making appearances on merch, posters and more.

The monarch was named Minnesota’s state butterfly in 2000, and it’s one of the few butterfly species that makes a long-distance migration like birds do. Every fall, monarchs born in late summer make the incredible journey south to the mountains of Mexico, thousands of miles away. Along the way, they fuel up on nectar from flowers before continuing south.

Our rain garden, just off the patio, provides a little pit stop for them along the way. With 25 species of native plants, it creates habitat for butterflies, bees and other pollinators while capturing stormwater runoff from more than 5,000 square feet of roof.

So grab a pint, settle in on the patio and keep an eye on the garden. You might catch a few of our little neighbors fueling up before takeoff. 🦋🍻
