The patios are almost done! But we're going to wait until they're finished to show them to you. However, here is a sneak peak and a little story. Three Guys Concrete was kind enough to use a large rubber stamp we had purchased and made an imprint for us in the back patio. Love it!

Now for the story. On Thursday morning, before the concrete was poured, I, Ginny, took our North American Brew Dogs, Ava and Izzy, out to do their business and had an idea. After all business was
complete, I took the little bit of my parents' ashes I had left and a pretty brass dragonfly sculpture I had purchased awhile ago and buried them about where the entrance to the brewery should be. So, when you come to visit us, you will be greeted by 3 of the most beautiful people who walked the face of this earth, including our wingman. I know they would be honored to have this very important responsibility!

Today's post pre-Tabbapalooza mowing is from our friends in Munster, Indiana, 3 Floyds Brewery. It's a lovely little lager that tastes just like a good cold beer. Tabbapalooza is 5 days away, and we have been busy getting ready! We didn't get the beer patios poured, but that's okay. We're still putting together some of the outdoor patio furniture to provide some seating for the music festival. We truly hope you can join us for 3 days of peace, love, and music!

I have to be honest and say that, as Tabbapalooza 2025 approaches, I get a little sentimental in a bittersweet kind of way. Our wingman, Kyle, loved Tabbapalooza! He'd take a couple days before the festival off to help us get ready. He'd always have bottles of his homebrews out for everyone to try. In 2021 he put out a tip bucket and was so surprised that people would pay for his beer. It was all so good, he deserved every penny he made that year. He always took the time that Tabb and I didn't have to talk to everyone who attended, many of whom showed up for us at his visitation and funeral. Tabbapalooza was as much his as it is ours. I miss his presence here, but I also feel him here even more as we get ready. If you decide to join us, be sure to have a Hamm's with him! (He was a fantabulous brewer, but he was also cheap. LOL!) We always have a cooler full in his honor.

Tonight's post-mowing beer is a sampling of what we plan to tap at Tabbapalooza this year! We've got a Honey Kolsch, a NE IPA (I think), our "Oopsie" Imperial Porter, and and Imperial Stout. We plan to have them, as well as the hard seltzer, available to try until the sixtels (1/6 of a barrel) are empty. These aren't beers we'll have in the brewery without a tweak or two. They're "experimental" recipes that are still pretty darn good, and we're not afraid to let you try them!

Today's post-mowing beer looks like water, but it definitely is not. It's our crisp, clean, unflavored hard seltzer! This one will most definitely be on the menu along with an ever-changing variety of housemade syrups.

Today we realized we only have 3 more mows until our annual music festival, Tabbapalooza! We may have some brews available for tasting, but they are mostly recipes that won't be on the regular menu, though each one is mighty drinkable! We may try to see if we can get a guest tap as well. We're also hoping to have our patios poured. We doubt they'll be covered in time, but we will have some of our outdoor seating together so it can still be enjoyed.

We hope you'll be able to join us Labor Day weekend, August 29, 30, and 31, for Tabbapalooza 2025! Click on the Tabbapalooza link above for more info on this years' lineup, camping, and other tidbits of information!

Lots of excitement in Amish country this morning, and it's all brewery related! What was it Tim Allen used to say on Home Improvement? "More power!" Well, that's what we're getting today!

Today's post mowing beverage is being enjoyed accompanied by the two sweet girls we adopted about 10 days ago, Ava and Izzy! They have been working very hard setting expectations with our neighbors' horses, chasing away all bugs (except dragonflies), and keeping the yard well fertilized. They love other dogs and kids, especially babies, and are expert cuddlers. They are truly a fine testament to the loyalty, intelligence, and goodestness of the Midwestern Brew Dog breed.

Let's raise a glass to our new associate brewers and house security, Ava and Izzy!

P.S. Also a photo of the part of the yard that I (Ginny) mowed because I'm pretty darn proud of it considering what it looked like when I started.

Today's post-mowing brew is from the great state of Wisconsin! New Glarus Brewing Co doesn't distribute outside of Wisconsin, so this is a rare treat! We stocked up when we were on vacation last week. We unplugged (mostly) and spent the week enjoying eachother's company and reconnecting, with a little brewery planning in between.

Hopefully, we'll have a power box installed tomorrow so we can get the new underground power installed. Everything takes longer than we expected, but that's okay. Between you, me, and the lamppost, we were really hoping for an Oktoberfest opening, but we decided to step back, take a deep breath, and stop stressing about having to get it all done when we have to depend on and be respectful of other people's time. Life's too short to sweat something that we don't have control of.

One thing I have learned over the past 3+ years is that I am not in control, and trying to control things, like time and other people's time, isn't my job in this world. My job is to be kind, make the best decisions I know how to make given the situation at hand, and offer grace when it's needed. But, it also kind of goes back to the old saying, "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy". Not in the traditional meaning of the statement (in this analogy, we're all "Mama"), but I have to take care of myself, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually in order to be the person the world needs me to be. I'm a work in progress, I always will be, but I'm learning about being kind to, making better decisions for, and giving grace to me. Be kind to yourself today and every day. Make the best decisions you can. Give yourself grace for the days you weren't kind and the bad decisions you made. We can't change them, but we can learn from them and be better from this moment on.

Cheers!

Today's post-mowing beer is a gin Cosmo. It just seemed to hit that pre-vacation vibe just right. I didn't have everything I needed, so I did a little improvisation. Not bad, if I say so myself. I've been thinking a lot about what type of flavor syrups I want to make for our seltzer. Of course, I'll make your normal fruity syrups (from real fruit!), sugared and sugar-free. But I'm thinking of making a "cocktail series" as well. Obviously, they won't taste just like the cocktails because we wont be adding any liquor, but maybe Cosmo, Mule, Margarita, S×x on the Beach. What do you think?

Yesterday, Ol' Blue went to his new home. We love the young men who took Kyle 's truck, so we feel good about it. It does look a little weird looking to the north and not seeing that old blue and white Ford, and I won't say I didn't get a little emotional. But at the same time, sometimes "letting go" can be healing when it comes to grief. Kyle is just as present in our hearts now as he was when the truck sat on the corner of the lot. It's not about the "things" as much anymore. It's all about those amazing memories of laughing to his wicked sense of humor, taking care of eachother when life got hard, and experiencing all the adventures we shared. BTW, he left and "Easter egg" in the truck that Tabb found when he was getting Ol' Blue ready to go. Just ask and we'll laugh about it with you! We even got the whole scoop from his best friend, Allison! He's not here, but he still has us cracking up!

(If you ever feel overwhelmed and not sure this world is where you want to be, please reach out someone. Anyone. 811 is always there. No judgement. Just someone who wants you on this earth as much as we do. The world is a better place With you here, whether you think so right now or not.)

Today's post-mowing beer is an every day drinking all-American ale. Crisp, clean, slight hint of hops. It's pretty okay. Let me explain:

Beer has a process even after it's been kegged. It takes, at minimum, two weeks for the beer to carbonate adequately, but that's not enough time for most beers to "condition". Conditioning is basically the aging process. The beer settles and some flavors soften allowing for other flavors to become more pronounced. Generally,, beer gets better and better as it conditions, until it doesn't. Once it doesn't, it starts losing those flavors that made it special. That's when it's time for the brewery or bar to decide if it's something they want to sell. For us, two weeks ago, this beer was perfectly saleable. Today, while it's still perfectly drinkable (by us), we would not sell it to you. Tracking flavors as beer conditions is essential. We would hate for someone to think this represents the quality of beer we produce. The good news is... we'll have room for some new kegs of freshly brewed beer, and we have 2 or 3 recipes we are ready to try! Woohooo!

Today's post-mowing beer is brought to you by Tabbapalooza, and the number 10! Yesterday's Wingman Brewing adventure was to move the stage to a spot we think will better serve the brewery. The upgraded power should be installed this week by our electric coop ,and then we'll bring full-time power to the stage. We hope to not only be a craft beer destination, but also a super cool outdoor music destination during the warmer months.

As I sit out here on our back deck enjoying one of Mike 's creations, I tend to think about how this dream all started, how we thought it had ended when we lost our head brewer, son, and best friend, Kyle, and how we pulled ourselves together enough to realize the dream didn't have to die with him. I have to admit that I'm proud of us! We hit many setbacks, but we didn't give up , though we came close a few times. I can't help but think that the Best Wingman Ever, is proud of us, too. Here's to you, Bud! We drink to next time!

Some may look at these photos and think, "if they cleaned out the building and filled that dumpster, why is there still so much cr*p left?" 90% or more of that is brewery related. There's brewing equipment, a "merch maker", indoor furniture, and a $ #!+ ton of outdoor furniture that we need to put together. We're feeling a "furniture assembly party" in our future. LOL! BUT!!! IT'S ALL 100% PROGRESS, and 10 days of a lot of hard work going through a combined 116 years of "stuff". Yes, we're THAT old. We may also be that stupid. But a dream realized for the two of us, is a dream realized for 3 of us, one is just no longer here, but we know he's watching and proud of what we all imagined coming to fruition.
