alittle more about us: World Domination is a collaborative project started by Andre Soto, joined by Megan Hiestand and Leah Potts to bring gaming to the community in a positive, engaging way. By combining great food, amazing coffee, and a comfortable, safe environment, World Domination will offer a hangout space to geeks and nerds of all ages, shapes, sizes, and colors. This neutral, upbeat space will encourage our customers to be engaged in events and creative projects; along with lots of room to enjoy your preferred geek sundry, we will also offer a space where people can complete homework assignments and school projects. By offering a comfortable gaming experience both with video games and tabletop games, alongside a wholesome, freshly-prepared food and drink menu, we hope to create a space that can act as a home away from home for college students, a gathering place for locals, and as an event venue for game releases, tournaments, and conventions.
The First Person Shooter Cafe (pun intended!) will offer coffee drinks, smoothies, and basic (and maybe not so basic, if our baker has anything to say about it!) baked goods. The kitchen will offer a variety of sandwiches and other meals, including bento lunchboxes to go, local-influenced comfort food, and the best onion rings in the city. Students and professionals both will be able to come in for their morning pick-me-ups, along with the after-work wind-down. By making several items available for a to-go menu, we will offer healthy and creative lunch options to people who would otherwise be eating out of vending machines or fast food joints. Engaging our menu with geeky references and creative combinations means that there's never going to be a boring day in the kitchen. Our coffee and tea menus are sure to be a stand-out hit: everyone loves a good morning cuppa joe, and our focus on both traditional and more modern twists on caffeine means your flavor palette will definitely be covered.
The Gaming Lounge will be a mixed media space, offering video games and tabletop sets from the dearly beloved classics to current-day hits. Along with our game collection, World Domination will be organizing local tournaments and game days so the entire community can enjoy what can be a rather expensive collecting hobby. Attached to the Gaming Lounge will be a larger event space. The founders of World Domination love conventions, and with this large space will have the opportunity to give local organizers a ready-to-go venue. Got convention footage you wanna show off? Bring a projector and pull up a chair. We will also be offering a makers' workshop specifically engineered for the cosplay community. We want to offer access to a 3-D printer, a skill saw, and other heavy equipment that does not fit in a dorm room or an apartment.
World Domination, as the name implies, wants to offer a place where anyone is welcome, where any genre is engaged, and where we can feed the communities' brains as well as their bodies. No matter where you come from – U of A campus, some big corporate building, or anywhere in between – you are welcome here.
