Happy flag day everyone!

Happy flag day everyone!

Here in the United States, June 14 of each year is known as Flag Day. Even though it is not a federal holiday, the day is to mark the anniversary of the June 14, 1777 adoption of the “Stars and Stripes” as the official national flag of the United States.

Today’s brief story below seemed a fitting way to share an interesting Stanly County connection to the American flag.

George A. Weaver was appointed to the United States Capitol Page School in Washington D.C. in January 1955 while still a sophomore at Albemarle High School. The students at the school took regular classes in the mornings and then served as Pages, where they attended and helped manage the legislative sessions of the United States Congress, when they were in session, during the afternoons.

One of Weaver’s many responsibilities while serving as a page was to raise the United States flag over the House chamber on the Capitol building whenever the House was in session. Weaver served as a page until he graduated from the U.S. Capitol Page school in June 1957, as salutatorian of his class.

🎸🚗🏍️ BIG NEWS, ROCKABILLY FANS! 🏍️🚗🎸

We’re excited to officially announce that we’re working on what could become one of the largest Rockabilly events in the Southeast!

If you’ve ever been to the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Auto Show, then you’re going to LOVE what we’re bringing to North Carolina!

The Carolina Rockabilly Antique Auto & Motorcycle Show is currently in the planning stages, and we’re working with venues now. While we aren’t quite ready to announce the final location, we’re targeting late October 2027 and creating a destination event unlike anything currently offered in North Carolina.

Think of the movie Grease brought to life with classic cars, vintage motorcycles, live music, carnival lights, pinups, hot rods, leather jackets, chrome, and old-school Americana around every corner.

Here’s a glimpse of what we’re planning:

🎶 Live Rockabilly, Classic Country & Vintage-Inspired Bands
🚗 Antique Autos, Classic Cars & Hot Rods
🏍️ Antique Motorcycles & Harley-Davidsons
💨 Traditional Gassers
🏁 Vintage Racing & Exhibition Demonstrations
🔥 Burnout Exhibitions
🏍️ Motorcycle Stunt Riders
🎯 Biker Games & Competitions
🔥 Wall of Death Motorcycle Thrill Shows
🎡 Amusement Rides & Retro Carnival Midway
👗 Pinup Contest
🛍️ Vendors, Artists, Collectors & Vintage Marketplace
🍔 Food Trucks & Specialty Vendors
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Activities for the Kids
🏕️ Camping Available
📸 Incredible Photo Opportunities
🎆 Fireworks Finale Each Night

We’re also looking for:

✅ Vendors
✅ Sponsors
✅ Food Trucks
✅ Antique Auto Owners
✅ Antique Motorcycle Owners
✅ Pinups from across the United States, especially North Carolina

If you’d like to be involved, send us a message. Applications and additional information will be available soon.

🐾 VENDOR CALL! JOIN ONE OF NORTH CAROLINA’S FASTEST GROWING FESTIVALS! 🐾

The 2nd Annual Uwharrie Bigfoot Festival is coming to Camp Barnhardt in New London, NC on Labor Day Weekend, September 4-6, 2026, and we’re looking for incredible vendors to join us!

Last year’s inaugural festival was a tremendous success, welcoming an estimated 8,000-10,000 attendees and more than 140 vendors from across the region. This year, we’re making improvements based on vendor feedback to create an even better experience.

✅ Improved vendor layout and logistics
✅ Easier load-in and setup
✅ Better traffic flow throughout the event
✅ Vendor areas designed to help ensure all vendors receive exposure
✅ A more centralized festival footprint so attendees can easily explore the entire event

One of the biggest improvements this year is our new venue layout. At Camp Barnhardt, the festival grounds are designed to create a smoother flow of foot traffic, helping attendees move throughout the entire event rather than concentrating in just one area. Our goal is to give every vendor a fair opportunity to be seen and visited throughout the weekend.

🎪 Featured attractions include:
• Turtleman
• The Floating Squatch
• Lost Monster Files cast members
• Mermaid shows
• Sasquatch Monster Truck Rides
• James Whipper’s live whip-cracking shows and lessons
• NC Bronco Show
• Live music
• Zip line & rock wall
• Mechanical bull
• Hayrides
• Kids activities
• Speakers, authors, researchers, and more

We’re looking for:
✔️ Bigfoot & cryptid vendors
✔️ Artists and makers
✔️ Outdoor & camping vendors
✔️ Bronco, overland, and off-road vendors
✔️ Apparel and accessories
✔️ Collectibles, oddities, and unique merchandise
✔️ Specialty foods and packaged products

If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly event with a proven attendance record and exciting attractions, we’d love to have you join us!
