At Oktoberfest this year, a litre of water costs more than a litre of b**r.

In the Kuffler w**e tent the water comes to 15.33 euros. The cheapest b**r anywhere on the festival is 14.80. So in the wrong tent, ordering the sensible drink costs you more than ordering the one you came for.

B**r runs from 14.80 to 15.90 a litre this year, somewhere around seventeen to eighteen dollars. Two tents froze their price and one actually dropped it.

The gates open in eight days. Six million people will come through over sixteen days, and Munich puts on about six thousand extra tram, bus and U-Bahn journeys to carry them all.

Somewhere within an hour of you there is an Oktoberfest in a church hall or on a fairground, with a two dollar cup of water and nobody charging seventeen for the b**r.
