It has come to my attention that there is a plan to reopen Millhill Saloon. For our purposes “Millhill Basement” is now dead.

For as long as I can remember, the time between Halloween and Christmas was the time I looked forward to the most. Right in the middle was Thanksgiving. My friends from all around the country would come back home to Trenton for the holiday weekend, and the night before Thanksgiving was magical. We would all gather around the bar and catch up with each other while listening to our favorite bands. I thought we’d have that forever. Tomorrow night, The Cryptkeeper Five and Honah Lee will not be playing Millhill Basement. We aren’t going to see each other. Happy Thanksgiving, folks, I miss you all. Be kind to each other. Rock and Roll forever.

Friends and family,
The Millhill Basement has always strived to be a place where artists, musicians, fans, and friends, can come together and enjoy themselves. We believe art and music are essential to life. We have always tried to create a safe environment where everyone feels welcomed. We believe in empowering women’s voices. We believe in believing women. We believe in supporting survivors. We believe we can always do better.
Once again, we find ourselves in a difficult position. Awful, terrible, heinous things have happened, and even though they didn’t happen in our venue, those actions have impacted our community. We are heartbroken for the victims and their families. If you can, please consider donating to NJCASA, New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault.
I don’t know what the future holds, but I hope we can all see each other again. Until then, be kind to each other.

It’s Friday night, I’m in the Millhill Basement. There is no show, there is no cover. I just swept the floor. The ice machine is broken, so come in for a beer and a shot, or a warm mixed drink. Who knows, maybe one of us will smile.
