HEY! The ATHENA Awards are THIS week! May 9th from 5-7 PM! Join all the amazing people already attending. It is going to be a blast!

The 2024 ATHENA Awards nominees were announced last week, and they are...Dana Frost, Judy Harrison, and Eva Petoskey!

Dana Frost was nominated for her Forced Joy Project and the thoughtful, supportive network she has created for others working in the grief space all around the world.

Judy Harrison’s previous endeavor Swingshift and the Stars and now Flat Cap Ventures and Community Market, as well as her work on the Michael’s Place Board were highlighted in her nomination.

Eva Petoskey of Mindimooyenh Healing Circle is a water walker, previous Vice-Chair of the Grand Traverse Band Tribal Council, substance abuse recovery advocate, among many other regional efforts she has led in her professional and personal work.

The ceremony will take place on May 9th at 5pm at the Historic Barns, and we are thrilled to honor this year's recipients. Dana Black will emcee the event. A cocktail and networking hour will be followed by the presentation of the Award.

We invite the public to attend this inspiring event and celebrate the accomplishments of these 3 remarkable women. Three Outstanding Women Nominated for 2024 ATHENA Award

The tradition of honoring women who exemplify the tenets of “Authentic Self, Celebration and Joy, Collaboration, Courageous Acts, Fierce Advocacy, Giving Back, Learning and Relationships and... 21st century leadership” has returned with AAUW of Traverse City taking over the presentation of the Grand Traverse Region ATHENA Award, with support from My Secret Stash.

The nomination window was opened to outstanding women who live or work in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska or Leelanau counties. Those nominating women were asked to put forward women who demonstrate excellence in their business or profession, provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community, and assist women in reaching their full leadership potential. This year’s process provided three outstanding nominees.

MEET OUR EMCEE:
Dana Black is a communications coach, public speaker, moderator, emcee, storyteller and professional SAG-AFTRA tv/film/voiceover actor. She is also a speaker delivery coach for TEDxChicago. Dana moved to Traverse City two years ago after living in Chicago for over 20 years. She is thrilled to be a part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the ATHENA Awards and strongly believes in lifting up other women, and mentoring a new generation of incredible female leaders.
