Today was a fun one.

We put the first bottles of Dakota Shy on the wine wall. There’s still plenty of construction dust around, but the flooring is all down and it’s starting to feel like a real wine bar.

This week should be a big one—our front door is being installed, bathroom vanities are going in, and a lot of finishing touches are starting to happen.

We wrapped up the day testing a potential menu item: Rigatoni alla Norcina. Safe to say it’s earned a spot in the conversation.

This week we’re installing our kitchen hood and possibly front door, the bathroom wallpaper is going up, and the finishing details are beginning to take shape. Every day, Board & Barrel feels a little more real.

We officially cut through the brick to create our front entrance — making this space feel real for the first time. Even better, we’ve framed out our chef’s counter where you’ll be able to sit, eat, and watch the magic happen in real time.

This is going to be one of the most unique experiences in Topeka… and we’re just getting started.

Big delivery for Board & Barrel 🍝

This new machine will allow us to produce 20 pounds of fresh pasta per hour—a huge step forward as we build out our kitchen. Our team made the trip to Atlanta to hand-pick this equipment, and we couldn’t be more excited to put it to work.

We’re starting demo on the old flower shop workroom that will soon become the kitchen and dining room at Board & Barrel Wine Bar. With Custenborder Florist now fully moved into their new workspace, this part of the building is ready for its transformation.

From flowers to wine, this building has always been about bringing people together — and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. 🍷
