We are all deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Rich Palmay. Having known him through Village Idiot Brewing, and having the pleasure of featuring him and his partner Vince in the premiere issue of New Jersey Brew, we can't possibly stress enough, just how wonderful a man he was. Our deepest condolences to the Palmay family.

On Saturday, several NJB contributors attended the opening of Gretchen Schmidhausler's Little Dog Brewery in Neptune City. Gretchen had four fantastic beers on tap and judging from the crowds reaction, she's on the road to great success!

Our best wishes and prayers go out to beer enthusiast and NJ Brew contributor Kurt Epps and his family. His son Brett has been diagnosed with a condition known as FSGS. He never had any indication that he had this disease, but he was assessed at being in Stage 5 of 5 stages. A kidney transplant is needed.

Kurt has posted this message on his page:

We are all praying constantly, and we'd appreciate whatever prayers you can send his way. Prayer has helped our family weather other storms, and it will help us weather this one.

In the near future, look for a special FB page and a website which will monitor his progress and his/our attempts to locate a compatible donor.

What state had the highest ratio of medals to entries at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver today? New Jersey. Kane Brewing of Ocean Township and Flying Fish Brewing Co. of Somerdale took home gold medals in the prestigious beer competition.
