GRUGELFEST 2015 will be held the weekend of September 11-13 at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, 101 N Summit Street in downtown Toledo. Named for the late Ralph Grugel, leader of Cleveland’s Eagle Jazz Band, GRUGELFEST has replaced the annual Fall Dixieland Festival produced for more than 20 years by the EARLYJAS Club of Northeast Ohio. ano players and singers will be featured during 4 sessions: Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, and Sunday. A Pre-Festival party will be held on Thursday night (September 10) at YE OLDE DURTY BIRD . . . Downtown Toledo’s Gastropub (just around the corner from the Park Inn Hotel) with music by Ragtime Rick and the Chefs of Dixieland, for those who can’t wait for the party to begin. On Sunday morning, a Dixieland Worship Service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1853 South Avenue (just 3.5 miles from the Park Inn hotel). Everyone attending GRUGELFEST 2015 is encouraged to attend, and a free shuttle from the hotel will be provided. After the service, a chicken barbeque dinner will be held. To reserve a room, call the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel at 419 241-3000 (do not use the 800 number). Be sure to ask for GRUGELFEST rates!

So here we are on April 1st with the world shutdown. We’ve been working hard to make all the arrangements for this years Grugel Fest but at this point, we are at a standstill until we know more about how to deal with this virus. In the meantime, we will attempt our first of a hopefully short series of live broadcasts starting tonight at 8pm.

Bob Adams performed with the Buffalo Ridge Jazz Band from Cincinnati, OH at the Grugelfest in 2012 and 2018. He was a fine band leader, banjoist and entertainer.I always looked forward to hearing him and last heard him play at the COHJS concert in November in Hilliard, OH. R.I.P. Bob
