These are the kinds of posts I absolutely dread making, but I've always believed in being upfront and transparent with our community.
Unfortunately, the cost of certain products, especially tomatoes and lettuce, has increased by over 100% recently. As a small, locally owned mom-and-pop restaurant, we've done our best to absorb these rising costs, but we've reached a point where we simply can't continue taking the hit.
With so many of our menu items depending on these ingredients, it's not like we can just stop ordering them.
Starting tomorrow, Friday 10/30, we will be implementing temporary upcharges on certain items containing these products. There will be a notice posted in our foyer explaining the changes when you walk in.
From what I've been told, these price increases will hopefully only last a couple of weeks, and believe me, I'll be keeping a close eye on things.
In the meantime, I'm doing everything I can to shop around, compare prices, and find the best deals possible without sacrificing the quality of food our customers have come to expect from us.
I know everyone is feeling the pinch these days, and the last thing I want to do is make going out to eat more expensive for anyone.
I appreciate each and every one of you who continues to support Berger's Olde Tyme. Your support means more to this little mom-and-pop restaurant than you probably realize.
I promise I'll continue doing everything I can to keep our food affordable, our portions generous, and our quality where it belongs.
