A new Homecoming tradition is coming to Southern Huntingdon. 🚂🏈
On October 16, the East Broad Top Railroad and Southern Huntingdon County High School are teaming up for the first Rockets Ride for CHAMP.
In the weeks leading up to Homecoming, students in grades 6–12 will raise money for CHAMP while competing against the other classes. Students who qualify will earn a pretty unforgettable trip to the game:
They’re taking the train.
The Rockets ride from Rockhill Furnace directly to the high school for Homecoming.
Participating students will take the field as the total amount raised for CHAMP is announced. Then the winning class will be revealed and presented with the Rockets Ride for CHAMP Traveling Trophy, handmade by EBT Master Mechanic Dave Domitrovich.
The trophy will remain at Southern Huntingdon, with each year's winning class added to it.
Our hope is that this becomes more than a one-day event. We want it to become a tradition—one that Southern Huntingdon students look forward to every fall and that makes a meaningful difference for CHAMP year after year.
A train ride students will never forget. A Homecoming tradition the community can rally around. And a fundraiser with a purpose.
