The first of its kind in Michigan, Iron Fish Distillery is a field-to-glass craft distillery located just outside Thompsonville. We distill a full line of premium quality, small batch spirits (vodka, gin, rum and whiskey) from grains farmed on our fields and carefully source whiskies to age and barrel finish at the farm. With a custom, state-of-the-art production facility and full service tasting room and bar, we invite you to come gather and enjoy.

2 DAYS TO 10 YEARS 🥃

The next chapter brought some of the biggest recognition in Iron Fish history.

In 2024, Mad Angler Whiskeys dominated the ASCOT Awards with Double Platinum, Platinum and Gold honors—and the Iron Fish Whiskey Club officially launched.

Then came 2025:
• Rickhouse #5 was completed—a $500,000 investment
• Mad Angler Riverbed Whiskey became the first seasonal release in the series
• Four Cask earned Double Platinum at the ASCOT Awards
• Mad Angler Manifesto and Deadman were released
• We partnered with the Michigan Maple Syrup Association to create Ice Storm Whiskey, supporting Michigan maple producers recovering from devastating storm damage

The barrels were getting older. The whiskey was getting better. And the story kept growing.

2023 was a year of BIG growth at Iron Fish.

• The Still Room was created
• Production expansion included a new 2,000-gallon mash tank, 1,000-gallon still and three 2,000-gallon fermenters
• HeadWaters, our speakeasy-inspired event space, came to life
• Our Soft Parade Vodka collaboration became a huge hit

More production capacity. More gathering spaces. More opportunities to share the farm and our spirits.

Years of planting, harvesting, distilling and aging came together in 2021.

• Our Estate Series of farm-distilled spirits was released
• Rickhouse #3 was completed
• Bourbon Finished in Mezcal Barrels was selected as a top craft spirit for Michigan
• The farm became Certified Organic
• EV charging stations were installed
• Combined investment: approximately $300,000

Iron Fish also swept top packaging honors at the American Craft Spirits Association national convention for our Estate Series portfolio and Salted Maple Old Fashioned RTD.

From the grain in our fields to the bottle in your hand, the Iron Fish story was becoming unmistakably our own.

2020 challenged everyone—and reminded us what community really means.

• Our second Rickhouse was completed
• Bottling equipment was upgraded
• Basecamp was created
• More than $200,000 was invested in our growing operation

And when COVID-19 changed everything, our production team changed course.
Iron Fish received a special license to produce and sell hand sanitizer, helping meet needs for Munson Healthcare and other area businesses and human service organizations.

The stills kept running, our team kept working, and we found a way to help our Northern Michigan community when it mattered most.

• Our Varietal Vodka earned GOLD at the World Vodka Awards—the only U.S. Gold in its category
• Our wood-fired pizza kitchen fired up
• Copper Queen Whiskey was brought back to life

Before the first bottle. Before the first cocktail. Before anyone made the drive down our dirt road—it started with a vision.

In 2015, construction began on Iron Fish Distillery, including the installation of our first solar panels and an initial $1 million investment in bringing the farm distillery to life.

Then came 2016.
